Gum trees are as safe as the next tree in many respects. However, some are prone to dropping branches and others will simply shear off on a stormy day. The best thing is to select one of the many smaller gum trees (3-4m) and plant them in the right spot for your house. Gum trees provide life for the native birds and insects - ultimately this keeps the biodiversity of local areas strong. In the end that is our safety - taking a different perspective. Keep them well trimmed and leaves out of the gutter for the fire risk.
