I live on somerset st, and no it is not a good place to live due to the high rate of indigenous crime. our neighbours had their handbag stolen whilst in the loungeroom with it. Our other neighbours had a home invasion when they opened the door to help a woman in distress. We are sick of the troubles especially since it could be a great area to live in.

I would avoid the train line and Oats Street, as there tend to be higher crime areas (in my experience), with dreaded "young people" hanging around. I would stick south/west of Shepperton Road. But apart from that, it is a realtively nice, affordable suburb close to the city and good restaurants and shopping in Victoria Park.

Ok so people say its lovely because they are trying to sell but im here for the long haul and intend on trying to change whats going on I the area. We are lucky in our area (Etwell St) but others literally a street down tell a different story. Best bet is to unfortunately keep an eye out for homeswest houses, yhey usually have a whole lot of litter on and around the street in the front of the house.

Homeswest have a 3 strike policy that isnt followed and the joke is the complaints refresh monthly so they only need to be good for a few weeks when people complain.

A guy around the corner got a fine for putting his road side collection out 3 days early yet the homeswest house on his street has broken glass everywhere and rubbish all over the street and vergestill with no fines or any formal action.

Sellers dont want to see this but its the truth and it needs to change and it is no way only indigenous homes (even though they are the majority in homeswest) the whitetrash are gaining in numbers and are sometimes even worse.

Apparently homeswest percentage has lowered due to a few fires which resulted in sale of the land but it seems more the people that are being put in the homes yhats the problem.

I have 2 friends who are single mothers they work casual knce a week and volunteer atvtheir kids schools when they can, they would) love to live here and have requested to do so only to be offered houses in gosnells and armadale. Also my sons indigenous friend mentioned that if 2 indigenous families agree to swap homes the transfer is granted by homeswest im not to sure if rhis is the case for everyone though.

Its all unfortunately becoming a sad state of affairs, im sure their is some lovely indigenous families that would love to live here too.

So lets not generalise but my view is based on factual information and experiences.
