Reviews of Elizabeth Street, Bothwell

"Wonderful get away from it all only 55 mins to Hobart"

I have lived at 18 Elizabeth Street, and I loved it!
The cottage is lovely, abundant with character and warmth... it has so much history going on,

I loved the warmth of the baltic pine lined walls in the living room, the lush green carpet with under
floor (off-peak) heating, (satellite TV is discreetly installed, cant be seen on the roof).... Original open fireplaces with beautiful mantel pieces, the front bedroom which I chose, is papered in a green and white dimity print with tiny little window opening onto the front verandah, has its own fireplace and timber mantel, a small room but very cosy and romantic.

The kitchen is great, newly installed with lots of storage and good size prep bench, really good oven, and lots of character retained with the original baltic pine making an appearance as the wall lining. it has dear little windows that open out onto the back grapevine adorned verandah, fantastic for alfresco entertaining as they double as a serving hatch and also keep "cook" in touch with goings on! :)

the family room/dining room has a HUGE slow combustion wood fire that heats the entire cottage, and has room for cosy reading chairs whilst the dining area has lovely cottage windows that provide a pretty view of the rambling roses and give great ventilation, The second bedroom is large and would accomodate a double bed and room for craft/office space, I kept my exercise bike there and still could use it as a guest bedroom as it has almost ensuite access to the bathroom which has a GREAT shower, twin wash basins, plush carpet, loads of storage and plumbing for your washine machine. There is also a walk in wardrobe with lots of storage.

Outside, well its not called Birch Cottage for nothing! :) it has a lovely garden, very green and leafy but relativley low maintenance, mow the grass, weed the small but lush (great soil) vegie patch and you are done really... there is a massive weeping gum in the middle of the back yard, which offers shade on those lazy sunny days...

this really is a great place to invite your friends to get away from it all, and with a fantastic coffee shop The Elm only 5 mins walk away, they also do lovely meals.... it is a find!! There is a beautiful park for kids to play, I heard rave reviews about the local school and was struck by the politeness of the local children. The walks around town are very interesting as there are so many hertitage buildings to look at. The great lakes are only about 40 mins drive away so it would be perfect for the keen angler.

The locals are so friendly without being in your face, I loved the sense of community. The drive to Hobart is nothing, only 55mins I liked the 'thinking' 'wind down' it gave me...

So.... if you are looking for something romantic, cosy and quiet then check out Birch Cottage at Bothwell.
