"Perfect for families!!"

I moved to Forrestfield 4 years ago and love it here! The suburb is very well connected but has a relaxed feel, ammenities such as shops, schools, transport, parks/playgrounds, churches and doctors surgeries are all located in Forrestfield. Our son attends one of the local schools and my daughter goes to daycare here also, both have a lovely community involvement and lots of other families in the area express the same. I feel we made a good choice of suburb to work and raise our family!

"Perfect neighbourhood suburb for young families"

It's one of the best affordable choices a young family can make to get into the housing market. Closer to the airport yet almost no air traffic noise, long term neighbours (my neighbour has been living there for 25 years and despite having other real-estate still loved to stay in Forrestfield locality), safe, friendly and direct access to both Tomkin and Roe highways.

"Great location, Leafy, Full of Amenities"

Location & Infrastructure - Forrestfield is within 20km from CBD , its very near the Airport yet you do not get aircraft noise flying overhead when taking off or landing. Great access via Roe and Tonkin Highways through the main arterial roads of Berkshire and Hale Roads respectively. Roe and Tonkin Highways are part of the newly completed 1 billion dollar Gateway Project - the biggest road infrastructure project in WA history and so getting anywhere is a breeze now with little to no traffic lights.Continue on Berkshire Road past Roe Highway will bring you to the soon to open Train Station (part of the 2 billion dollar Airport-Forrestfield Train Link project). This train station will make Perth City only 20 minutes away and will make this property only one train station away from the international airport and two stops from the domestic airport which is ideal for business people and fly in fly out workers while keeping down costs and time wasted on transport. The new train line will then travel under the Swan River and link up to the existing rail network near Bayswater and then will be only five stops away from the city.
Leafy - Being at the Perth Foothills, there are plenty of trees lined roads and large parks. There is Hartfield Country Golf Club which is an 18 hole championship golf course and the Hartfield Recreation Centre offering a variety of sports including Auskick, Rugby , Soccer, Baseball, Basketball, Cricket, Tennis and a gym. Up the hills, you have the famous bush trails on the Kalamunda hills and Lesmurdie waterfall.
Amenities - At Forrestfield Hawaiians Shopping Centre, you will find Coles, Woolworths and many other specialist shops including hair dressers, cafes and restaurants.
You will find a very diverse range of houses in Forrestfield, from the newest development of Hales to the older 3x1s. It is still a very affordable suburb given its close distance to the city, nearby key infrastructure (airports & highways) and

How are the suburbs prospects in terms of investment properties and vacancy rates for Forestfield?

alvinong
alvinong

Hi Silva, there has been getting a huge increase in investors looking to snap up properties here for various reasons: Specifically for Forrestfield the soon to be opened Forrestfield-Perth Airport Train Link will bring see drastic growth and development, a prime example is the rezoning of key areas allowing many subdivision potential for existing residential blocks. Vacancy rates is very dynamic but we have seen record low numbers and recently we have just had a zero rental house available in our office which had never happened before. Refer to this webpage to see the latest figures that is being tracked: https://reiwa.com.au/the-wa-market/rental-vacancy-rates/

"A place to call home , has a rural feel &full of hardworking , friendly folk ..fab place for families with young kids ."

Moved off the hill 28 mths ago ( 2019) , no regrets .. great cycle tracks , many brand new!
Great access to Kalamunda , Roe , Tonkin & leach H’ways .. city beach or Fremantle is 35 mins ! The CBD is 20-25 mins , midland , Cannington 15 mins , airport 10 mins ( great back Rd access via Abernethy Rd). The new Hales suburb & fruitbowl suburb are amazing .. near natural creeks & well designed for community connection & aesthetically pleasing .
No concerns re safety & nice to have a police station next to main shopping precinct which is a lovely place to shop .. lovely Dome cafe & other eateries & has a great vibe .. Forrestfield today has greatly improved compared to how it was 10 yrs ago !!

"The aussie dream with a waterfall"

The reason I moved to forrestfield was because of all the Bushwalking tracks and lookouts within a 10 minute walk from my property.
Also the block sizes on most property's are reasonable you actually get a backyard 😎
Lesmurdie falls is in forrestfield and is only a 10 minute walk from where I live. It's the best way to wind down after a hard days work.
Also whistle pipe gully loop in forrestfield is an amazing bushwalk.
A bonus is all my neighbors are great people and my street has a sense of a real community
I have never been happier

"Rocks thrown at Cars, wouldn't recommend walking alone"

Basically as per title, I was just making my way to a friends house when suddenly a rock hit my rear passenger window shattering it into pieces, the rock was found in the foot well, I pulled over and caught a glimpse of a group of younger people who looked quite threatening, therefore I decided to drive on. I naturally contacted the police but without a description or witness they were at a loss to further the inquiry. Further inquiries lead to discovering my Car was not the first to have a rock thrown at it and a well known group vacate certain areas of Forrestfield which I would strongly advise you should not drive through, hope this review prevents anyone experiencing what I did, especially the financial cost to replace the Window.

"Forrestfield will be better with the rail"

Forrestfield is a massive suburb and really it depends where you live. In the foothills its rather nice but towards the airport I really dislike. With rail coming it will be easy to get around but for now its got a fair drive to the city.

A lot of FIFO in the area so quite often theres a lot of empty homes.

"Quiet, green & up and coming"

I have moved into the area recently and feel this is by far the best value suburb in the Perth Metro area. Situated in the Perth Foothills there are plenty of trees and large gardens. Great transport links with the update to the Tonkin Highway and soon a railway station too!

"Forrestfield, a great suburb for all the community."

Forrestfield has excellent infrastructure for supermarkets, schools, doctors surgeries, Gyms, physiotherapists and car mechanics. It's a nice surburb to live in if you like a semi-rural lifestyle being close to the hills and has plenty of trees. Most of the neighbourhood is friendly. The majority of properties have nicely kept gardens. This is only let down by some State Housing, run down rental properties and antisocial behaviour by hoon drivers.

Great for

  • Close to airport without being in the flight path - no noise
  • Family friendly

Not great for

  • Anti social behaviour
  • Crime
  • Lots of dogs barking

"If you like the sound of dogs barking you'll love Forrestfield"

Everything is great about Forrestfield although there is one huge problem here. You'll here dogs barking just about all day. There are dogs everywhere, one will stop and another will start and it goes on and on. People here don't seem to care less that there dogs are being a nuisance.
I've never lived in a suburb with a worse dog problem. It's great if you love dogs and love the sound of dogs but not everyone does.
If you don't like the sound of dogs barking then don't live here. We didn't know before we moved in and now we'll have to go to a huge expense to move out.

Great for

  • Very green
  • Great if you love the sound of dogs barking
  • Close to airport without being in the flight path - no noise
  • Family friendly
  • Lots of tress about

"Quiet, leafy green and just plain wonderful!"

Forrestfield I have to say, one of the best places I have lived.(7 years in forrestfield!) Woodlupine Primary school is excellent if you have kids by the way! Wonderful staff, kids and experiences. The shopping is pretty good and hartfield rec centre is awesome, kindy gym, gym, crèche, bday parties, rugby, soccer, footy, basketball, tennis, hockey, golf, little athletics, squash, lawn bowls nearby and much much more! Across from that is hartfield botanical gardens aka. The dog park. It is a large area with plenty of bush and open grass for dogs to run off the leash, at the dog park there is also a large climbing frame for the kids and a lake and creek that the dogs have a blast in!

Neighbours here are fabulous and lots of community spirit, dogs dont bark much-not much noise, nice and leafy green and the annual corimbia festival is held here!

Forrestfield is the place to be!!!

This is the worst suburb I have ever lived in. It's like living in a Dog's Kennel. You will hear the sounds of dogs everywhere, mostly during the day but often at night. One dog will stop barking and then another will start and it goes on and on.
You will see some owners being responsible in walking their dogs but it's as if no one cares about the dog noise here.
If you love the sound of dogs then you will love it here. If you love to keep a dog then you will love it here.

i suppose it depends which street if you have bad dog owners to put up with , we had same problem in Midland + we contacted a local councillor after shire said they couldnt help, She was very effective + also had one dog removed as there were 3 ...Please try similar even if your moving as people shouldnt get away with not looking after their dogs

"Loving the foothills!"

Our family enjoys the relaxed country feel of Forrestfield, plenty of trees, dotted with horse farms with quieter streets. The local private school Hillside Christian College which our children attend is growing and thriving. The neighbourhoods are a mix, some are brand new and others older, some residences are impeccably well kept and others not so. On the whole, an easy place to live and close to everything we need...a great community to belong to!

Great for

  • Lots of trees
  • Good private school

"Great for families"

Bought a house in Forrestfield several years ago now. There are so many positives about this area. Schools are great (the local private school is amazing), the local shops have everything you need, affordability is great and our neighbours are so friendly and nice. It has a real community feel in this suburb. The location is fantastic! People think we are so far from everything but in actual fact we are 20 minutes from the city, can accessTonkin and Roe Hwy within minutes, Midland and Cannington are just around the corner and we are so close to the airport (with no overhead noise). We have lived in several suburbs in Perth and can proudly claim that we have the best local chinese restaurant we have ever eaten at. We have also NEVER encountered or seen any crime here or antisocial behaviour the entire time we have been here so its great to raise a family. This suburb is a real hidden gem.

"Country living on the doorstep to the city"

Quiet suburb, with quick access to most areas of Perth via the Tonkin Hwy.
At the bottom of the Perth hills with access to numberous walking trails including Lesmurdie falls.
All the amenties you need are located in the suburb including Coles, Woolworths, Mcdonalds, Subway, Tavern, and a 24 hour gym.
Close to the airport, so it is great for fly in-fly out, however the suburb is not on the flight path so there is minimal air traffic noise.
Lots of tree and parks and a golf course.

"Car got broken in and no one is helpful in this suburb"

All I can say that I was visiting my friend in Forrestfield and my car got broken in.... asked the nighbours who were out watering the lawn and basically said nothing and told me to leave them alone! All this during the day! I don't feel safe in this area I would hate to see what is like during the evenings. Im glad now my friend has now moved out of Forrestfield and somewhere more family friendly.

"Everything you need without the hussle and bussle"

This suburb is a good little suburb. It has access to reasonable shopping facilities, several primary schools and a high school and overall good infrastructure.

The suburb is reasonably quiet, with most traffic going through hale road. The suburb is reasonably safe and has a small police station. One of the best things is that the suburb is close to everything. It takes about 10mins to get to Carousel in Cannington and about 20 mins (in good traffic) to get to the city. The airport is close enough to access (about 10 mins down Tonkin Hwy - which is good if you fly a lot), but you're not close enough to get the noise.

Finally, the area is pretty affordable considering its distance to Perth. Can't go wrong really!
