Reviews of Geilston Bay, TAS

"Derwent River Dreaming"

Geliston Bay is located about 5 kms north east of Hobart on the east side of the Derwent River. The houses are built right up to the edge of the bush and with the increased development in the area some of the native bush is disappearing. The aboriginal site at Shag Bay and the local boat club are two major attractions for the area. It has a private school which ranges from Kinder to Year 12 and a public high school. However, there is no public primary school in the area. As far as local shops are concerned there are two convenience stores which provides all of the daily needs of the community as well as a butcher and a hairdresser. Most locals head down to Lindisfarne for anything that is not available locally. Natone Hill Bush reserve is well used as many people both exercise and walk their dogs there. The tennis courts at Geilston Bay also get a fair work out. It is a nice area that is affordable for families jusat starting out.

No public primary school? Seriously - what do you think the bloody big brown building is in the parkland on corner of Derwent Avenue and the highway?
