George Town, TAS 7253 is located within the George Town local government area, part of the null Region in Tasmania.
Hello We are wanting to buy a house around George Town and was wondering if its a great place to bring up a young family. Looks like a beautiful place but looks can be deceiving.

we to are in the same boat , but have bitten the bullet and are building a home there sight unseen .

It is low socioeconomic. This is the capital of social housing in the north. And more to come. A few years ago one would not have said oh I can't wait to move to George town. However it is about the only affordable place left. We ve been so many times to try and convince ourselves this is a great place to live but just can't do it. Wages in Tas are low, housing is in crisis. So we are looking to go to mainland. Tasmania is great if you have unlimited funds.
