"Great suburb, family friendly"

Lived in Girraween for over 10 years and have found it to be a great, family friendly suburb. There are plenty of small parks around the area. The closest station Pendle Hill has a mainly Indian demographic, and generally feels quite safe. The station street may be a little dirty sometimes but is really no different from other similar sized stations. Only bad experience was someone doing a burnout on my street who swore at my mother when she came out to see (even good areas have one bad apple).

"safe and convenient suburb for family and kids"

Girraween is sought after suburb to the community for its best schools both primary and secondary, close proximity to Parramatta and Blacktown for shopping, education, work and entertainment needs of an individual and families . Train stations and shops at both Toongabbie and Pendle hill suburb are nearby and plenty of parkings are available . Apart from these ,its safe for families. Lots of parks both small, and large for sports , recreation and play. Very homey and convenient suburb.

"Best of what may be your choice"

I have moved in this suburb about 14 years before. I have seen and lived with changing needs of my family. My boys grown from being young school going to now working men. I am still enjoying my life as senior as there is lot to do or choose to be otherwise. Good popular gardens like Civic park or place to be peaceful like Girraween Park. School like Girraween Public, Girraween High or Choice from secondary schools with in 10KM. Shopping center small like Pendle hill local shopping or medium less crowed like Seven hills or choice can be large and extra large like Blacktown shopping center or Parramatta Westfield. Train stations upgraded recently have extra fast train in early morning or change over at Westmead for fast train to city. You ask for it and you have it. Medical Hospital to choose from Westmead to Blacktown. It offers not only the choices for now but all life style. Not for night life or night out.

"A nice place to live in west"

I have been living in this area since last couple of years and I am quite happy with my decision of buying the house off the plan in the area, prices are trending up, excellent schools for kids, close to all major motorways, having local shopping center at Toongabie, close to Parramatta westfield or Blacktown westpoint and still you are away from traffic and nested with beautiful parks, foxhill golf club for golf lovers, safe and sound area, multi cultural area with superb childcare facilities with lot of choice, swimming school in area, close to both train stations Pendle hill & Toongabie and what not? Excellent area for families..:)

"Peace & Quiet. Close to major Roads & Schools."

I have been living in Girraween for last 5 yeras and really impressed with the suburb. It is surrounded by the schools and grounds. Girraween Rd, Gilba Rd, Oramzi Rd & Tungarra Rd are best to live, less traffic and nice peace, quiet streets... Close to both Toongabbie & Pendle hill stations..

"A hidden gem in the West"

A quiet suburb that gets confused with Kirrawee in the South. Most people haven't heard of it, unless you're obsessed with getting into the selective high school. More in demand and better resale value for this reason. Close to Toongabbie railway station, as well as a bus route through the suburb. New Woolwoths opened in the local shops, good takeways and pub nearby. Close to M4, M2 and M7 which means you are never too far from anywhere. 10 minutes to Westmead or Blacktown Hospitals, as well as good medical centres close by. 10 mintues also to Parramatta Westfield, Westpoint Blacktown or Winston Hills shopping centre. Spoilt for choice, a great suburb to live.

Have sold property in this area, The crime rate is atrocious and the landscape is dirty.
I understand you live there and you may be happy but in my opinion the area is not recommended.

RainyDay

Thanks Adam, for someone who works out of St George area why would you bother commenting. You obviously have not been in the area for many years and you are kidding yourself if you think the crime rate is any better or worse than high rise Rockdale, and the no go zone after 6pm of Brighton.

Treesnleaves

I commented because I know the suburb and it's a free country that's why.
Sounds like you have sour grapes of you think beautiful Brighton le sands is a no go zone at any time of day.
I am entitled to my opinion just as you are, however I am unbiased considering I know the place well but don't live there as you do.

RainyDay

No sour grapes here mate. Just curious though - how did you successfully manage to sell properties in the area if this is your opinion of the place?

Geez mate, really didn't want to get into an argument about this.
Let me start by saying not only did I work in the area I grew up there and I still have family that live there. As to your question about how I managed to be successful if my opinion of the place is not so good, well I have sold real estate in a lot of surrounding areas that I rate more highly, I am an award winning agent and am very good at my job however if a buyer wants to live in girraween and they like the house I was offering then I don't need to be very good at all do I?
The fact I do not live in the area anymore is because I chose to for reasons I stated earlier that you have taken exception to.
This is not a south vs west thing nor is it east and north vs west, I personally do not rate girraween as a good suburb as you do and now people who read your review will be able to get 2 very differing opinions and that is what it's all about I think.

"Good suburb for families"

Pros : What a family needs , Good atmosphere to live , good school for the kids , easy access to transportation ( two railway stations in the proximity) M2 and great western highway . At the same time away from heavy traffic. Pendle hill and Toongabie local shops , Woolworth and Aldi nearby .Properties are reasonably priced and the trend is upwards.

Cons : None for longer term view .
