What type of 'lifestyle' is in Gladstone? What would the expense of living would be?

My husband has bn offered a relocation position to work on Curtis Island. As part of the relocation package we get a house (rent paid for) and all our belongings, including our cars and various heavy industrial workshop equipment all freighted over at their expense. Our house will be located within Gladstone. It will be myself, my husband and 2 young children, son(8) and daughter (6).

Reading some of the reveiws here Gladstone doesnt seem promising. My husband has accepted the offer, so we are determined to make the most of it! Being a 'city' girl for most of my life, I'm looking forward for a much settled life with my main focus being my family. We will be coming from Perth, Western Australia (which is apparently the most expensive city to live in, in Australia). I just hope i can make some new friends! We will be moving there in January 2013.
