Hi there! talk to me about SNAKES before I buy!

I'm planning to move from Victoria to Qld (Gympie area), and have been scouring the property sites to see what's on offer in the area. I'd prefer something semi-rural, reasonably quiet and within about 45 mins to shops and "civilisation" but because I'm unfamiliar with the surrounding areas, I'm not getting very far. Peaceful, quiet, semi-rural, bushy and surrounded by nature is a good start BUT I have one burning question that will influence my choices. Don't laugh, this is serious stuff for someone who can't even look at a picture of a snake!! I'm absolutely terrified of them and I read here that there are "PLENTY" of them in places like Glenwood (which looks amazing).
I'm fine with ticks, toads, spidies, but snakes NAH! Tell me, do they inhabit in and around properties where humans reside? What do you mean by "plenty"?? Do they come indoors? Do they hide in gardens, sheds, dams, pools etc.,? Does snake fencing work? Also I have pets, 3 dogs, 1 cat, not to mention 3 little grandbabies. Is the danger real or is it remote/unlikely? Apologies for sounding like a moron, but I'm south of 2 borders and unaccustomed to having these issues. Where and how far away is treatment if a person or pet is inadvertently bitten by a venomous reptile?? I'd really appreciate your feedback. Please feel free to give advice regarding alternative rural suburbs/locations.

Hi Lynd4!
I completely understand, me personally, centipedes make me want to leave this planet!!
As for snakes in Glenwood, I think you have to be realistic because its a rural area, there's bushland all over, so yes, there are snakes. As for "PLENTY"?? No? I've lived here for about 4-5 years now and all I saw was a carpet python, twice. It was probably the same one! I spend a lot of time in the garden too taking care of my veggies, so you'd think I would see them more, but nope. It is that kind of area where its not unreasonable for snakes to exist. If you mow the lawns to keep grass down then it reduces the risk of encountering them, or making it difficult for them to get into sheds and garages. I haven't heard of them getting into houses unless you leave the door wide open! There's other things you can do as well to keep them at bay but not many people go to those lengths.
Its such a lovely area, I am sure you'd love it here despite the snakes!
