"Great for those that love the safe relaxing country community"

Walkaway is a fantastic little country town to live in, I had the pleasure of living there for over three years and can say I dearly miss it. I have never felt so welcomed into a community as I have whilst living here, I was new to Western Australia and instantly started to meet the locals of the area. It is a peaceful town - sure no nightclubs or big shopping centres for the city goers - but the city is only 30kms away hence you have the best of both worlds. Safety and security, lots to do, once you live there it is surprising the amount of things you can get involved in. There are monthly markets in the park opposite the museum, the local country pub which has been renovated and has a great feel about it - families welcome. We had weekly yoga, belly dancing in the old hall, playgroup, CWA, tennis club for socialising and sport, polo for the horse lovers, small post office/deli and a primary school with a very well known quality reputation. It is definately a place to live - not a tourist destination as such, once you are settled in - you can choose either a quiet relaxing lifestyle on large open blocks with privacy or you can get involved in the community and will be run off your feet!!! All modern amenities like Hospitals/Doctors and highschools/Target/shopping facilities only 30kms away in Geraldton if you like living in the fast pace environment have a look in Geraldton and Perth. :)

Looking for a home in Greenough?

"Not much to offer."

Walkaway is situated near Geraldton and is on the Greenough River. This is a small community and there is not much to the town. There is a primary school here with an attached preschool but students have to travel to nearby Geraldton to attend high school. There same applies to medical facilities with a trip to Geraldton a must to seek medical advice or attention. Walkaway is serviced by a general store and of course there is the Walkaway Tavern. There are several places of interest around town such as the Walkaway Station Museum which has a souvenir shop and of all things a tennis club. All in all the town does not have a lot to offer yet to some people this may be bliss and add to that the very affordable housing prices here and the towns close proximity to Geraldton and the great countryside it may be just the place to get away from it all.
