"Love life here"

We live here with our 2 young children and love the lifestyle Greenwood offers. Close to the freeway and public transport, and plenty to do on weekends as close to beach, parks, shops, cafes and restaurants. Quiet and safe suburb, and we LOVE our neighbours.

Looking for a home in Greenwood?

"Ticks all boxes"

We love calling Greenwood home. We have been here for five years - love the vibrant parks (we have 5 within 1km of home), proximity to freeway, public transport, CBD (20 mins) and beach (10mins).
Spent about a year looking seriously at 10 suburbs and this was our pick - it’s been better than we hoped. Great community of residents - it truely is a hidden gem.

"Lyndoch Crescent Greenwood"

We have lived here for 13 years and love every minute of it. Can walk to Warwick or Greenwood train stations. Short drive to the city and even closer to the beach. Great bird life and cool sea breeze in the summer. Great parks to walk the dog and a great hotel in the Greenwood for dinner and drinks.

"Crime and more options"

Crime Central, house and car robbed and stolen.

Crime increasing almost weekly and my neighbours got hit as well.

I agree it's value for money and well located but north worth the hassle.

"Great suburb!"

Living in Greenwood and enjoying this great place with many green parks (with plenty of parrots) and shopping centres around. Great location, very close to the city (17 min by train) and to the beach (10 min by car). It is very safe and green, with great people who look after each other! Many families with kids live here.

"Fabulous Family Suburb"

Greenwood has quick become my home with my family, after being a city person for my entire life I was enticed to invest here 2 years ago, since then I have bought my family home and moved up here with my husband and son. We love the tree lined streets, the park areas, the friendly neighbours and the proximity to the freeway makes it an easy commute to work.

"Perth Suburb with a village feel"

Greenwood is bordered by the Mitchell Free way to the west, Hepburn Avenue to the north, Wanneroo Road to the east and Warwick road to the south. The block sizes are good, being around 650 to 750 square metres with mainly single story properties. Most of the homes were built around the seventies and many of the original owners still live there.

It is a green, leafy suburb that has many parks and play areas for kids. There are walk ways every where so it is very easy to get around and be able to leave the car at home. The Greenwood Hotel is located off Warwick Road and has a family friendly steak bar, sports bar and TAB.

There are two small shopping areas both off Coolibah Drive with butcher, bakers but no candlestick makers unfortunately. There is however, a Farmer Jacks in one and a Coles in the other. Greenwood Primary and Senior College are on the same street.

Greenwood Train station is on the Clarkson line and you can get into the city in 15 minutes on an express train. Property prices are staying keen in this sort after suburb.

Great for

  • Centrally located to lots of shops
  • Friendly Neighbourhoods
  • Lots of parks for the kids

"Peaceful, Central Family Suburb"

I lived here in greenwood for about 17 years, grew up there and lived in two different places and I also worked security in the area (on the public schools). Greenwood is generally a great suburb, very green and leafy, most people are friendly, you're not far from kingsway shops, warwick shops, there is a supermarket and a couple of stores at the "coolibah" shops and a small shopping complex at Greenwood village. The greenwood pub is known for a good meal and beer, you're not far from the freeway and about 10 minutes from Hillarys boat harbor. The primary schools are very good, particularly West Bathurst. House prices skyrocketed with the boom, and I don't think the demographics or culture of the area have changed much. If anything it has moved from a lot of families with young kids to a lot of families with primary school aged/high school aged kids. I also think there are better places in greenwood than others, I think the western side of Allenswood road is probably better than the eastern side. That's not to say the eastern side is bad, but the western side is more uniformly well kept and just by driving through it you'll get a feel for the difference yourself. There are the occasional hoons that like to treat coolibah drive like a racetrack, but most of the time it's a pretty quiet area and one that you will not regret living in. When we first moved there we lived in the space between blackall drive/karuah way/hepburn/allenswood and I found this to be a little rougher than the area we purchased in which was within walking distance to West Greenwood Primary. In terms of the demographic, having worked security we used to see a lot of problems around where Allenswood primary used to be, kids/teens wandering the streets at night etc but West Greenwood remained relatively untouched. I think that says a bit about the "two sides" but you can form your own opinion. Greenwood Senior High School when I was there was always a bit of a rough school, but it was never a bad school - no worse than the others in the area.

Overall I think it's a great suburb and living there will not disappoint. But don't take my word for it - try it out for yourself. I recommend trying to rent in the area and forming your own perspective - you may find it similar to mine.

Great for

  • Centrally located to lots of shops
  • Lots of parks for the kids
  • Friendly Neighbourhoods

Not great for

  • Some rough patches
  • Can be expensive to buy

"A Suburban Haven"

“A Suburban Haven” (has lived here)
I Have lived in Greenwood for 5 years now. I came from Bayswater as we needed to be closer to the coast and joondalup. We had been told by a friend about Greenwood, we also looked at Duncraig, Kingsley and Hillarys. Greenwood represented such good value and after extensive driving around the suburb it felt just right. We have never lived in such a convenient location, the freeway is 5 minutes away, the beach is 7 mins, Warwick shopping centre/cinemas 5 mins, trains and busses 5 mins, Reid Hwy 5 mins, Perth CBD 15 mins, loads of parks and playgrounds 2 mins and the Greenwood hotel/shops 2 mins, what more can you ask for and its still affordable.
The bird life here is also amazing having come originally from the UK, we see so many parrots we can't believe it. We have kids and 2 dogs and we are spoilt for choice in regards to walks, playgrounds and parks. All in all a great place to live...get in before the prices go up!!!!

"Handy to everything and easy commute."

Greenwood in a suburb in the northern area of Perth and is with easy distance to the CBD and is well serviced by public transport including rail and bus lines. There is no end of shopping options with large stores and specialty shops as well as supermarkets, convenience stores, service stations etc. There are plenty of restaurants and cafes as well as takeaway food outlets with the usual multinational fast food chains within a short distance of each other. There are pre primary and daycare centres, primary and secondary schools both state and catholic catering for students right through schools and there are TAFE colleges and universities close by. There are a number of medical centres and numerous hospitals in surrounding suburbs. Sporting activities such as swimming, little athletics, team sports, tennis and football etc are all played at the many sporting venues dotted around the area, with sporting clubs and associations plentiful. Real estate prices are within reach of most people if you are prepared to buy at the lower end of the market. Moderately priced rental properties can be found and bargains are always available to those with a good rental history.
