"Ssshhh... A Secret Delight! ...As yet "Undiscovered!""

Leafy Undulating Peaceful... Safe and Quiet! ...Atmospherically Rural with Views!!!

HEATHMONT offers a friendly, courteous, VILLAGE Ambience...

It has a shopping strip at its familiar epicentre, catering for its eclectic populous well, with its own Post office, banks... range of doctors, dentists, ophthalmologists... coffee shops, restaurants, supermarkets, hairdressers, butchers and bakers, among others - including an 'open twenty-four hour' business, and a Travel Agent, if one should ever feel the need to take a break! Major shopping centres such as Doncaster, Knox and Ringwood are close-by and Chadstone can be reached in less than thirty minutes.

It is handsomely served by sporting facilities of all kinds... and boasts Tennis Courts, Lawn Bowls, Ovals and Fields for AFL, soccer, rugby, baseball, softball and the like.... together with a full Aquatic Centre housing indoor/outdoor pools - therapy spas - diving boards, and so on.

It is perfect for Family Living and offers a variety of Schools, Parks, Open spaces, Bike paths, local churches and a Creek in and around the community from which to choose.

It is blessed with many larger land parcels and property bargains galore, since it is yet to be "discovered." Several streets are elevated and homes on these offer glorious views over the Dandenong Ranges and beyond.

It is quietly served by Train and Bus... with the CITY (via Eastlink) and Beach, Healesville, Olinda, Belgrave and similar, accessible in a tad over the half-hour!!

Add to this - a one hour trip to the Airport or to the heart of the Mornington Peninsular, and similar destinations... and one realises its superb LOCATION!

People in Heathmont nod... smile... wave... and laugh! A rarity indeed these days! It is a "blink" in time, and the road (Canterbury) passes through... leaving its inhabitants to enjoy its rich benefits, whiling away the day - whilst others whiz by!!!

In A few words...

A quiet, residential, unpretentious, friendly pocket of society served by a train station, bus-stops and City-Link access to the City; sporting facilities/venues, parks, bike paths, creek, churches, schools, community and shopping outlets.

Ssshhh.....!

"Nice Suburb"

Love this suburb! Quiet but very convenient. Close to Eastland, easy access to Eastlink. Get everything we need in less than 10 minutes drive. Realised that we have 2 great shopping centres- Eastland and Westfield Knox within 5km radius when COVID lockdown. Sure to continue to live here for years~

"Just needs a bank...but"

Such leafy little enclave with all you need. Train station, parks, schools and around the corner to Eastland and Eastlink. At the feet of the Dandenongs and just around the corner from the Yarra Valley.

"A great little hidden gem"

Heathmont is one of those places you drive through on Canterbury Road in you way up to mount Dandenong and probably never take notice of. But with amazing coffee shops and a little strip shop full of different stores you are sure to find something to your liking. It’s also has a gorgeous slice of green with many parks and walking tracks to pass your time.

"Love this Community"

Moved to Heathmont 5yrs ago after 15 years living in Kew and Melbourne’s bayside suburbs. I love Heathmont for its hillyness, variety of period homes, many which have been tastefully renovated in recent times and great Community vibe. The strip of shops has had periods of challenges but is back on the way up with an increasing range of foodies delights.
As a bonus, travel to anywhere in Melbourne is easy and quick including under an hour to Mornington Peninsula. For recreation, local Aquanation is great and we are surrounded by bike trails that link up to take you anywhere in Greater Melbourne. Really happy to be a Resident.

"Beautiful suburb, wouldn’t live anywhere else!"

Have been a resident of Heathmont now for 19 years and still love it! Such a great community, lovely neighbours and business owners all looking out for each other. I have clients that travel to me from all over Melbourne who all comment about how beautiful the area is. Cafes, parks, transport and major retail all close by.

"GREAT Village feel"

I have lived and worked and had ties in Heathmont for over 40 years. I love the diversity of businesses and the Village feel. There is a real OWNERSHIP of the suburb by the residents. They are vocal, supportive, loyal and LOVE this little leafy pocket. It needs some work and some love on the main strip (COME ON COUNCIL - approve a couple of the improvements will ya) but overall if you are thinking of living, shopping or "Schooling" in a premier suburb without the premier price tag Heathmont is the RIGHT place for you!!

"Heathmont is going backwards"

It looks like a bomb site through the main street. Empty shops, massage parlours, burnt out building, very old fashioned, cheap and nasty.
Accidents constantly on Canterbury Rd.
Some lovely people live there and some are horrible so you will not fit in if you are not born in Heathmont. Lived there for 2 years and worked there for 5 years, never accepted into the area.
Give it a wide berth if you want peace and serenity.
Keep well and be happy.

I think you have a jaundiced view, perhaps based on your unsuccessful business venture in Heathmont (read Tripadvisor views: Barclays Cafe). The new Proprietors are delightful and have been warmly welcomed into the community. Milk & Wine recently opened in the midst of the Covid Pandemic, so will need our support for their survival. Watch this space.

"One of the best suburbs out East"

We have lived in Heathmont for 30 years. We are in our 2nd home in Heathmont. When we decided to move we wanted to stay in Heathmont as it has everything near by. Trains, Buses, Local Shops, Eastland, Great Schools. If you are going to live 25kl out of the city then Heathmont is the pick of the bunch.

"Hidden Gem of a suburb"

Clean, green, fresh air and great views of the Dandenongs from certain streets.
The transition from moving from bayside Melbourne to the hills and trees has been unexpectedly pleasant and refreshing - it's like permanently living in an "eco-resort" town.
Facilities and amenities are not far away - from the quaint Heathmont village, mega-mall Eastland, sprawling Bayswater shopping strip and slightly further south, you have Knox Westfield.
The fact that it's close to Ringwood and all its facilities is fantastic. Located close to where Eastlink and the Eastern freeway is connected is a bonus, as you have two highway options to get to the city.
Great for families with parks and creek trails a-plenty.

"Fantastic eastern suburb"

Located right next to Ringwood, Heathmont has fast become a popular suburb where the residents are close to the newly developed Eastland shopping complex, new, trendy cafes on the main shopping strips and the Eastlink freeway. There are reserves and grounds for you to enjoy and use for fitness and recreation. You are only a short drive up the Eastern freeway tot he CBD although feel miles away living among the trees. It is a great place to invest as the rental return is great.

"Simply love this suburb!"

We moved here about 3 months ago, and simply love this suburb. A lot of our friends and colleagues have never heard the suburb before, but it is a hidden gem that we gladly found. Public transport, close approximity to East Link and to various amenities (shops, cafes, schools), park, etc) and the beautiful clock tower are some out of many other factors that drew us to this green-leafy suburb. We also love the house characters in the area. In term of safe and security.. it's too early to tell, ,but so far we haven't come across any psychos, and certainly hope and pray to keep it that way!

"You may love it if you live here but it is definlitely NOT Melbournes best suburb by a long shot...."

Nice 'middle class' suburb, north/ west corner not so great, South side has some great streets, a few cool contemporary 60's & 70's homes.Great value but a bit of a drive intro town. If you have more to spend try Glen Waverley (Appletree area) Vermont South, Inner east trumps it though - Camberwell, Surry Hills etc.
Views to Dandenongs nice in some spots however Bayswater industrial areas in foreground views spoi lsome outlooks..

Everything is relative, isn't it. Traffic in the inner suburbs is horrible, especially in peak-hours, school pick-up times and a couple of hours each-way of major events in the City. $2Million for a modest home in these areas is out of reach for the majority. Heathmont is a perfect alternative, and is swiftly becoming part of the new 'Stockbroker Belt' attracting more and more young professionals into its enclave. Working from home here would be a lovely option... in the bosom of a friendly, village community. A half-hour run along the Eastern Freeway brings you to the full spectra of the City, and the banks of The Yarra again!

I grew up in Glen Waverley... My dad still lives there.... Would never go back!

Ys1

To Glen Waverley? ...or Heathmont?

Would never suggest its the best in Melbourne... everythings relative... But to those looking to move into the area... I have presented the facts as I see them.

Would add... that local amenities include the services of Doctors, Dentists, Opticians, and a Vet.

"Big blocks, green streets"

Tree lined streets. Very quiet. Great schools. Good public transport links. Big blocks of land. Good entry level market prices for unrenovated older properties. $500+ prices for renovated and extended properties. Local shops are fantastc, and Eastland is only down the road. Parts of Heathmont remind me of Surrey Hills before all the beautiful old homes were buldozed to make way for 4 and 6 unit blocks.
