"If only it was quiet and peaceful"

It may of been peaceful and and quiet once, but it's not peacefull anymore despite the agents' spiel. Since BAC has changed the flight path to come over bulimba creek it is anything but especially if you live down Oberon Esplanade or the lower end of Pinnibar. Planes going overhead, even on a Sunday every three minutes and with the new construction at the end of Oberon Esplanade we now how B-double trucks coming down Pinnibar every half hour which sucks it's a local road they should use Lytton Road. I also love how the agents never admit that it's impossible to enjoy your outdoors when you live alongside the green space because of the sand midges from the mangrove. So glad I got out.

"Country style suburb close to the CBD"

Hemmant is a suburb on the outskirts of the Wynnum/Manly area situated between Wynnum West and Murarrie. Green crops and sugar cane was originally grown in Hemmant and still has many acreage properties which allows a country feel, yet is only 14km from Brisbane CBD. Hemmant State School was opened in 1864 and is one of the oldest schools in Qld. Although the school is no longer operating as a state school, remains in operation as a flexible learning centre.

"Family friendly and easily accessible."

What a great locale to be living in. Only 10klms to Brisbane CBD, easy access to the Gateway motorway and only a short drive to the Wynnum foreshore. All that you need within close proximity. Whether it be schooling, sporting, shopping or professional services. A friendly and supportive community living here as well.

"Unsafe, under a flight zone, bogan central and floods!"

Thankfully we got out of Hemmant just before this recent flooding. Hemmant is unsafe and noisy, if it's not the planes going over your house 24/7 it's bogan's hooning up and down residential streets, also 24/7. I only ever walked home from Lindum train station once, and ran into trouble with 'locals' who decided they wanted my handbag more than I did, thankfully my husband was close by! there are loads of shoddily built, small disgusting houses being smashed into the area and they have changed how the rain/water flows, and Hemmant floods anyway!! horrible horrible suburb, glad to see the back of it!

Agree, since the flight path was moved to now be Hemmant from Bulimba having a plane every 3 mins on a Sunday is anything but peaceful. Don't even get started on the bogan's dogs who bark at all the dog walkers going to the green space and everything else late at night, including the idiots using chainsaws at 8.30pm in Oberon Esp. to chop down trees in the park.

"A great little suburb!!"

I’ve been renting in Hemmant for approximately 12 months now and my young family and I have had a great time!! People are friendly, very close to the city and shops, and quite cheap on rent for a 4 bedroom place which is hard to find!! Nothing but love for Hemmant

"Smallest country suburb to the city under 15km to cbd"

Hemmant has no traffic yet it is only 15km to centre of the city.
Its 10km to airport
Its 5km to highway
Its 5 km to the bay
It's got more park and sports area than most suburbs
It's got wild life
Still very affordable compared to any other suburbs within 25km to the city.

"Avoid if you want any peace and quiet"

Not so great listening to the fights, loud music and the dv coming from the Housing tenants who don't
give a rats if they keep you up till 1.00 am with their screaming and fighting. Avoid Shaw, Eadie and Wells Place if you want a decent place for your family.

Completely disagree, these party's are few and far between ending no later then midnight, never through the week and there's only 1 drug addict and we're working to have her removed.
Yes there's public housing but you wouldn't know if you weren't told. This sounds like the lady who lived here for 6 months and did nothing but complain about the dogs in the area and then used her job at the BBC to search who's were registered, aswell as looking up who owned their house, renting and Public Housing and made complaints to pretty much any she could. I lived here many years, mostly friendly people who wave and say hello, then some just like to keep to themselves and that's respected. Sorry this area wasn't right for you but we who still live here find it a beautiful place to live

"Once Was a great place!!!!"

Was a fantastic little oasis. Similar to a country town. Felt different to living in the more common bayside suburbs. Until it became more populated and the coucil started buying out all the properties. It will soon be like every single other suburb around there over populated and city like. There is also a lot of dead beats that live around the area. Especially around peplow street. Very violent with drug and alcohol addictions, assaults neighbours families and children and is always in domestics. It has definitely taken Hemmant down to a 1 Star for me and a lot of other residents. You can’t pick who your neighbours are but I personally would avoid this area as she’s not going anywhere.

"Stop, look, listen, relax and enjoy ..."

Having moved here in February 2011 I have enjoyed the peace and quiet, the fresh air and open style housing/farming atmosphere of the suburb. There are no cars screaming down the street, no wild parties until all hours of the night and everyone keeps their music and entertaining to a polite noise level. Neighbours wave hello/good morning and share a smile. I can walk to the park without fear and the community spirit is obvious at all the clubs in nearby suburbs (Wynnum and Manly). All the fast food chains have an outlet here and you can venture down to Manly for something a bit fancier. I do however live on a no through road, close to the river and when I am in the garden I always say hello to the horses in the paddocks across the road. This suburb is not for everyone and thank goodness for that, I would like it to remain Brisbane's little secret for a while longer if possible.

"Could be a very good investment, one to watch"

Very close to the city, larger than average blocks, still can get 1-2 acres at a surprising price for a suburb so close to the city. This is not an area you would buy in to have a nice house and neighbourly spirit etc as it is mainly an industrial area, but then again, so was balmain once upon a time, look at it now, anywhere close to the city and near the water can not be written off thats for sure.

Not much to say as it is what it is and there is nothing flashy about it, I suspect businesses that own their own land will be laughing all the way to the bank in the near future, and once developers get in and start to put up gated style community residential areas then this area will change and probably overnight.

One to follow, good rental return for industrial, you just have to get the right tenant.

I would class a person who has nothing to do as someone who persoally attacks someone else for excersizig their right to their own "opinion".
I would suggest that the person with the vested interest is ot me.mif you read the fine prit below which this website acually has built in you will see that " the opinions expressed within this review are those of the individual reviewer and not those of local voices" Maybe people who feel the need to attack people for excersizing "freedom of speech" should move to North Korea instead of posting multi insults and attacks which are only public displays of limited knowledge, lack of self control and a short fuse which will go off if someone dares have an opinion different to that of your own

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion guys!

kaindec

They are, I thought the site was local voices not investor voices.

blahdeeblah

Actually if you read the page when you write a review it clearly asks if you are a local, a visitor, work here or wanting to work here, as I ticked the box visitor I am within my right to post a review based on my opinion which I have come to after going through my checklist of things that "I" ( not everyone and clearly not you ) think are important. You really are just being argumentative now because you are repeating yourself over ad over again and you seem to think you the voice of reason on what opiions people can and can't have. And once again you are WRONG as I have not invested here, stick to facts and stop the tirade attack on people opinions and stop incorrectly labelling me as you are telling me to stickm to facts but guessing away incorrectly at what I do and where I go. Investors ARE allowed to have an opinion as well you know, or do you propose to tell everyone who is an investor on this website that their comments are not wanted unless they are good ones?

golfers

I will state a fact. As close as Hemmant is to the city, it has probably the worst peak hour transit times of all and yet you don't mention it here. You have given quite few suburbs poor rating due to peak hour traffic and yet it's not mentioned here. You do talk about your opinion quite a bit but everyone who is intrigued by your motives, as I am, and reads your reviews, can see the baffling inconsistency. sorry, i have tried to understand you but I have to side with your opposition. I will not say a bad word about you but your logic fails scrutiny.

blahdeeblah

If you read the review, it was based on industrial, therefor, people would be travelling there to work OR if they lived there, they would be travelling against the grain for peak hour which I actually did trips in and out of. And if you come from the Canon Hill or Morningside direction, it has excellent transit times, funny how you seem to think you can use the word fact, but tell others they can not, rather bullying I feel. Your scrutiny, is not based on logic, as people can easily see by checking all your comments, that you have made a mission to make a comment on every suburb I have reviewed, this is not logical, this is a personal vendetta of yours. Please dont confuse logic with what you are doing. There is nothing logical about bullying people because their opinions and thoughts are different to your own. People have different values in life accordig to their own situation, theres no right or wrong, just different opinions. Im not sure what you mean by trying to understand me, that is very personal and a bit scary to think someone is out there following everything I write and trying to decifer who i am, where I live etc, maybe just let people have their opinions, and review suburbs you see fit based on your situation, as it is not realistic that you all of a sudden have an opinion and review o each suburb I have rated. At least I have made mine on experience from being i the actual area, I doubt you have spent a whole day in some of the places you have reviewed and commented on. I am flattered that you have given so mych thought to my reviews, but it is kind of scary by the manner it is heading in. I can see a lot of people would refrain from writting an hoest review in case people did this sort if thing to them, to think this all started over my review of Keperra, which was all in all, a good review. I seriously doubt I will write anything on this website, by all means, you can have the last say, Im not interested in you rants anymore, it was amusing and bewildering for a while, but it is kind of scary that you are tracking every comment I make like you have some right to override my personal opinion

golfers

Not overriding anyones opinion, just having my own. I have read your review again and you yes you have mentioned tenanted industrial property at the end but my comment was referring to the larger part of your review where you say how close it is to the city and how you can still get large block there and you compared it to balmain. this is all ok but based on that, so is my comment. Why is it scary? It's you that's ranting

hotchick

Have some comments been taken off as these comments don't make sense.

golfers

Yes and No, You would be better to read the profile of Blahdeeblah and you will understand a bit better. She is referring to comments made on other reviews as well as this one. But for it all to make sense you will need to read the comments she has made on other, unrelated, stuff and some of them have been removed too. But if you read her profile, you will get the gist.

"The undiscovered acreage suburb"

Why spend $1 million for acreage in Gumdale when you can get great houses on 1/2 acre and 1 acre blocks for $700k -$800k in Hemmant?

Great suburb with easy access to shopping, great schools, public transport, 12 minutes to airport without any aircraft noise, easy access to bay. If you want great restaurants, Bulimba's Oxford Street is about 15 minutes as is cinemas.

Totally undiscovered but will boom, no doubt about, so also good for those wanting capital growth.

"Affordable and great place to raise a family"

I believe Hemmant to a great place to raise a family. It has a train line that goes directly to Brisbane's CBD station in a matter of minutes and the drive to work is very short compared to other suburbs I have lived in. Finally the bay is only a 5 min drive and the farmers markets on weekends are great!
