"Close to city, a suburb reinventing itself"

Surprisingly quiet area with easy access to walking tracks and parks, although the nicer ones are in Oakden. Public transport and services very accessible. Some old timber-frame homes left but new housed replacing these all the time, reinventing the suburb. Friendly neighbours, no hoons, little crime. Short drive to Tea Tree Plaza. More affordable than Oakden and Northgate.

"Easy access to the city in a developing area"

There is a real blend of houses in Hillcrest from small courtyard homes, beautiful new homes and older homes in need of a bit of love and care.

There are a number of parks and playgrounds making it a great place to raise a family. However, the play equipment at many of the parks is not in as good a condition as the surrounding suburbs.

Hillcrest is well serviced by public transport with buses running down North East Road as well as Fosters Road. Some of these buses connect with buses running on the obahn making the trip into the city very fast.

Riding to and from the city is easy with well marked bike lanes, and driving to the city is quick and easy.

However, it is clear where Oakden finishes and Hillcrest begins. The footpaths are not in as good a condition and many of the houses are not well maintained. There are still a number of old trust homes in the area although this is changing with many being knocked down in favour of two courtyard homes.

There are a number of shops close by making shopping easy.
