Inverell is approx 69km to the east of Glen Innes, and much hotter. The further west you travel, the more you're getting into HOT country! The town itself seems to be a hub for families, teenagers and retirees - so a good mix. There are markets at weekends, and a cinema complex. A few 'hip' eateries around town, some even open on Sundays. Locals appear to be friendly and obliging, and one coffee venue allowed us to sit outside with our dogs! Would suggest you target the area across the bridge, up on the hill. More expensive, but gorgeous houses - and slightly cooler. Judging by the fauna and trees in the area, my guess is that it does have seasons. Lots of families living in the area and shopping as one would expect from a country town, but better than in GI. Just expect temps in the high 30s during summer, maybe even hotter. Fossicking seems to be the main attraction for tourists to the area. The town reminds me of Lismore NSW, so do a Google walk through it to get a feel for the place. Hope this helps. Brissy resident.
