"Home Sweet Home"

Recently moved here and loving it! New restaurants and takeaways are popping up. Quality businesses, shops and freeway close by. Great schools and the nature surrounding is gorgeous. It will only get better!

Looking for a home in Kalkallo?

"Things changed for the better last year"

Kalkallo traffic problem was addressed in late 2023 thanks to the upgraded roundabout. The Cloverton estate is getting another exit on the east side which would provide another access to the Donnybrook train station. We’ve traveled from Donnybrook station to Southern Cross station in <50 minutes in the mornings and in <40 minutes in the afternoons. Also it was a great convenience to get the Kallo Town Centre (with a Woolworths, bakehouse, cafe etc.) which opened in late 2023. Add to that, the neighbours are lovely. Cloverton seems secure with many houses having security cameras. Plus there’s a security car patrolling the streets in Cloverton.

"Very unsettling"

Welcome to the new Master-planned Kalkallo with lots of space, parks and freedom...so much freedom the school has cameras watching.... We heard children in houses crying all the time, never laughing or playing outside. No one goes outside, no BBQs no community events, people stay locked away in their concrete prisons. Distressed dogs barking, children crying, excavator noise, helicopters always flying over (?). People could never find us in a maze with wrong GPS maps. Many selling and leaving.

"Would never recommend"

Council like to take our money but then don't maintain the areas or provide proper services. Very unfriendly place, we can't even trust our neighbours and so inconsiderate. Like others said, poor design of suburb but to be expected of a Smart City. Creepy with surveillance cameras watching everything. Not many parks for families. This is not a good place and would never recommend, we are very unhappy here.

"On the home stretch"

A new estate, that is on the home stretch to having everything at your door step. The roads are in urgent need of development and has been listed as top priority, don't be caught out between 8 and 9am. Other than that the area is nice and quite, people are friendly with a family environment. New shopping centres and schools are opening up next year with a lot of Job opportunities as well all around the area. Only a quick 30min v line train trip and you're at southern cross station in the city.

Rentals in Kalkallo

"Horrid"

Our experience wasn't pleasant. Oversupply of rental properties and unkept blocks. Unfriendly neighbours that keep to themselves. Soon after moving in we felt we needed a security system and cameras installed just to feel safe. One road in and out causing traffic congestion.

"Freeway, train station and large houses new estate"

Kalkallo is in between Hume Freeway and Donnybrook train station, which is rare to find with new suburbs.
Good parks, merry creek passes through with beautiful parks surrounded.
Brand new primary school and child care opened, and woolies with 20 shops and petrol station coming up by end of 2022.
Still have single exit but 3 more exit are planned and work started, once opened will be ease traffic.

"Horrible!"

The new Kalkallo: Crammed cookie cutter homes with no privacy. Everyone has a security system. Only one road in and out = a safety risk & banked up traffic. Council only mow main streets in view, all inbetween are left and full of weeds, including painful thistles. Locals dump rubbish everywhere, where it stays. Always smashed bottles on footpaths. Unreliable rubbish collection. Locals park across driveways, on nature stips & footpaths. Lacks diversity. No eateries & shopping.

"A new and lovely quiet suburb"

I've been living here for over a year and have found it to be a very quiet and lovely place.
It's growing rapidly with the new estate, Cloverton and Kallo, bringing new affordable houses.
It's right next to the Hume hwy, which brings you back to Craigieburn in 5 minutes or Coburg in about 20 minutes.
This area is planned (and accepted by Victorian government bodies), over time to build several schools, new roads and a main business and shopping hub. There is also a nearby train station that is being re-newed.
There is a lot of developing opportunity here.

Expect usual building and development in various plots of land in the area, but these are usually finished within about a year each.

After some research I found that some of the negative statistics on the internet with this suburb are are actually inherited from other neighboring suburbs like Craigieburn (which has the same post code - 3064) as well as the old town of Kalkallo (which is physically bordered off from the new estate), and from my experience do not actually reflect on this area.
