Safety and Flood Question Please!!!

Hi! Thinking of moving here - sounds amazing!!! Just wondering what it is like in terms of community - is it a safe community? Do you feel safe as a girl to walk around day or night? Also, flooding from storm surge, heavy rain etc - what are the risks like for over floor flooding and isolation there? Does it flood?

Flooding in Cairns and close suburb is normally dry through winter and the wet season starts at late spring. There is no need to worry unless your property is located next to a large Creek or river. I have lived in Tully (approximately 1hr from Cairns) for 5 years now and it has never flooded. You only really have to watch out for flash flooding. Which is caused when it rains in a town near us or on a mountain and eventually it builds up and unexpectedlyflies down carrying debris. To be safe from this if it recently raining donot go swimming even if it's warm.
