Pretty tough to get employment, take a look on the internet and you'll see the basis of whats offered. However, lots of bars and cafes have constant turn over all the time as back packers come and go.
As for the kids, they've got the beach (obviously), theres also a skate park here if they are into that sort of thing. Most of the kids make their own fun in dams, the national parks, hanging out being local aggy kids.
Wouldn't want to raise my family anywhere else.
