The Greengate Hotel in Killara is certainly worth a trip. They do a great 'counter lunch' or have a more extensive offering out the back - open 7 days www.greengatehotel.com.au

I personally frequent the cafe on Marian St next to the post office. The owner Andrew is friendly and the nearby park is perfect if you love feasting on a fresh sandwich while being surrounded by the smell of nature. There are always street parking for those that commute by car. It is also within walking distance to Killara station.
