"Quiet and Homely"

The best thing about Ferny Hills is the peace and quiet, but also the access to the city via the train which is approximately 10mins walk.
When we lived there our neighbors were friendly and helped us continually around the garden to get things right. Once the garden was completed we had our weekly chat and a few drinks from time to time.
There's some great eateries around. My favourite was the Indian place on Patricks Road which had the best goat curry I have ever had.
Communication facilities and services were great and we had no problem getting Foxtel, phone line and also ADSL 2plus internet.
On Kootangal Cres where we lived we had near to no traffic. On Samford Road there was a bit nearer to the city, as can be expected.
Due to the local neighbours we had no safety or burglary concerns and sometimes (accidentally) left our home and car open.
When you see Ferny Hills you will notice straight away that it is one of those suburbs in Brisbane which is leafy and green, where you can walk around in peace.
No pests or rodents to report.
If you love golf the Keperra Golf Club (7th best in Brisbane) is just down the road. You can even walk through the golf course from Kootangal Cres to get the club house. Other things include a shopping centre with Kmart, a BCF up the road and lots of little convenience stores. Lots of utilities.
Retail therapy isnt as good as Chermside, but if all you need is a supermarket you will be spoiled for choice.
There's a gym down the bottom of Patricks road and lots of walking tracks around. If your a Defence member the base is about 10 minutes away.
My wife used to catch the bus and train to get to UQ near the city CBD. It took her approximately 40 mins to get there and never had a safety concern.
There's a school down the road from Kootangal, I believe it is a primary school. A secondary school is located on Ferny Way.
There is no gas, but we never had problems with electricity or water.
In conclusion is was a great place to live. We had to move due to posting to another unit within Army. I hope this review helps.
