Latham is an excellent place for young families.
Local to parks, schools, shops and transport you are not far from safe places to entertain kids and getting there is easy also. A really great point to mention is that all of the local public parks are well kept, safe and there is loads of parking available.
Not forgetting that Belconnen has some fantastic child minding services, and on a whole considered an attractive area for families.
