Reviews of Leichhardt, QLD
"Pleasantly surprised"
Look Leichhardt has always had a bad name. It’s always been known as where all the crime in Ipswich lives but we moved here two years ago as it was the cheap area and we wanted to save for a house. We moved to Essington Mews in the Essington Rise estate (near Wulkuraka station) and it’s been great. We are surrounded by families with kids who are respectful and kind. Although I have heard of some crime nearby our street has been lucky to avoid as we are mostly all families in a secluded street.

"If Possible Avoid.."
Having bought a house not knowing ,we had moved door to unemployed drug addicts witnessingdrug drop off nearly every day , the screaming and domestics every week , police called sometimes more than once a day and they do nothing, has left me with a bad opinion of Leichgardt ( golf course end ) .. could not wait to move. . But there are some lovely people and the houses are cheap.
"Leichhardt the place to start!!!!"
Hi this is a great place to live with a family, tranquile the schools are great. One of the few places with the feeling of country people, who always have a smile for you. Yes you have to lock your car and your home like in anywhere else in Australia, or in the world. A few incidents, but does not mean that it is terrible. Great opportunity for you to start, cheap to buy cheap to rent. Don't get discouraged for the comments. You can be that leader that makes the place better, starting with your presence and good example. Leichhardt is the place where you can put your roots in the ground and grow without the hassles of the big city. pure air, nice trees, less noise. Proud to live in Leichhardt for more than 20 years!

"Your worst nightmare!"
This is the worst suburb in Ipswich and everybody knows it. I'm sure some people have positive experiences living there but you take a huge risk moving there as you would be lucky not to get feral neighbours. It's extra cheap to live there for a reason.
Not great for
- Full of drugs and crime
"Clean, green and friendly"
We have lived in Leichhardt for 4 years and it has been a great place to raise our family. With nice locals and neighbours we can rely on. After the floods we were inundated with locals offering support and help, although we were not affected directly, our neighbours were, It was sad but it brought us closer as we all worked together to bring back normality. What we love about Leichhardt is that it is walking distance to the local Newsagant, Doctors, Chemist, Post office, Convenience store and only a short stroll across the one mile bridge to the IGA, Trade Secret, Chemist Wearhouse, a 24 hour gym and even town (I did this regularly while pregnant, that's how close it is). Every time we go to one of the many CLEAN parks there is always someone wanting to chat or just so hi. We have never had a problem with crime and we regularly go for walks of the night time and without a doubt if we see someone on our travels we are always greeted with at least a smile. Other things we love about Leichhardt: It's so convenient with Schools, Day care and welcoming playgroups all close by. The recreation is great with a golf course, footy field, tennis courts the local pool and many parks. If you don't have a car it's no problem as there is great public transport also. Overall Leichhardt is a friendly, clean, leafy green suburb.

"Great for the family or couples"
Easy access to public transport. Only a couple of minutes to centre of Ipswich but quiet with minimal traffic. Friendly neighbours but not in each others pockets. Close to all amenities you could ask for, from schools to shops to Golf Course & pool. Houses with good size yards. Great place to bring up your family or just to come home to after a busy day at work.work

Yes, because Ipswich is the only place where people get ripped off! I had my car stolen on the Sunshine Coast ( while I was taking care of my father who passed away days later of cancer) and my hubbies car was broken into in Cairns! And also in regards to being ripped off, have you never been to the movies and bought a drink or popcorn, the ekka or maybe even the local show in your town? A concert or two? Do you pay for petrol or get public transport? How can you rate a place because one SILLY shop owner tried to take advantage of people in need and desperation! There is scum everywhere!
I had my car broken into in Springfield Lakes... so location is irrelevant to comments like that. It happens everywhere.
"Great place to settle - close to everything"
Have lived in Wulkuraka for a few years now and have no complaints. Nice leafy area close to the train line, only 5 minutes from shops/schools. Fairly quiet with a lot of settled families about. Happy to recommend living here.
