Home colour schemes we’re loving this autumn

Autumn is here and while shorter days, lower temps and falling leaves typically signal the changing of the seasons, your home doesn’t need to feel dreary in the cold.

Colour has been proven to affect the feel of any kind of interior, whether brightening up a space or creating a cosy effect. It also affects moods signalling actions and changing emotions.

Autumn is typically likened to fiery reds and browns, but there are a lot more colours to love this season! Take a look at our fave colour schemes this season.

Ethereal

While Rose Quartz and Serenity were the top colours last year, light pastel colours like Blush, Yellow and Dusty Blue can be added to your home to create delicate and airy interiors.

To get the ethereal glow going in your home, paint your walls in blush tones for a dramatic change and effect. If you’re weary of major changes, why not opt for some artwork in pastel tones? These light colours can create havens of rest and relaxation. Pair these colours with love seats, chunky knits and throws for a cosy inviting nook.

Florabundant

According to PANTONE’s Home + Interiors 2017 forecast, rich floral hues are great for this season. As the name ‘Florabundant’ suggests, dramatic pinks and reds like Pink Yarrow, Chrysanthemum, Red Dahlia and Baton Rouge will make your home a floral masterpiece, accented with varying shades of green.

Make a case for floral in printed couches combined with a bold wall colour in your living room. These colours scream wow and is a fun twist to the usual browns and reds people associate traditionally with the season. Create balance with these floral tones by combining light green or creamy neutrals into your interiors establishing a space full of romance.

Forest dreaming

Greenery is the Colour of The Year so it’s no surprise that the forest is a great colour inspiration! Not only is green calming and refreshing but it also makes you feel closer to nature. Greens and Blue-greens would be great additions to and accents for your home. Cushions and vases in green hues are perfect for adding some freshness and letting nature in.

Why not counter the falling leaves by putting the ultimate blooming greenery into your home – plants! Go for seasonal flora and fauna or add in prints of tropical leaves for a sunny vibe all year long.

Into the deep blue

Make your interiors more vivid by adding deep blue hues to your home. Paint a wall dark blue for a striking accent to make your artworks pop and complement a dark coloured sofa for a remarkable impression. You may also opt for dark blues for your furniture like dining chairs and ottomans in velvet fabrics, taking inspiration from the cosmos, the stars and space.
