"friendly neighbours who respect our privacy, loud planes"
First the downsides: This part of Marrickville is on the Sydney airport flightpath, so we get a few planes and they're very low. There's a lot of ibis nests at the end of the street. Marrickville has lots of places to eat, but they almost all close early and there's no nightlife to speak of.
On the upside, people here are friendly, but not intrusive. The neighbourhood feels very safe. There's a couple of dozen bargain shops and another couple of dozen places to buy fresh greengroceries (and fresh fish!). Lots of eateries.
