Reviews of Longford, VIC
"Quiet town with great water access and LOADS of potential"
Loch Sport is Victoria's last and best kept coastal secret. Wedged between two of Gippsland's great lakes, with easy access to Ninety Mile Beach, this town offers a pristine playground for the handful of locals and growing number of city dwellers who are lucky enough to know the secret.
Loch Sport offers excellent lake and ocean fishing, boating, safe swimming, reasonable surfing and the sort of relaxed environment we all dream of when planning a beach escape. It also offers exclusive access to stretches of beach and national park, only accessible via Loch Sport.
Shops and services are fairly basic, but adequate, and better than many coastal villages. There is a small but impressive marina, along with a large hotel and bistro. Several other eateries are dotted throughout the town.
This is one of those quiet towns where you can be as isolated or as connected as you wish. Retail therapy is provided by way of fast ADSL2+ Internet access, or a trip to nearby Sale or Traralgon.
Aside from the once-daily bus service, the only access to Loch Sport is by car (or boat). Luckily, fuel is available at two petrol stations as well as the marina, and there's even an RACV roadside service, so you will never be 'stranded in paradise'.
