Any dodgy areas to avoid in Rutherford/Maitland/Metford area?
We are looking to buy a home in maitland area, can anyone steer us around the dodgy bits?

Hi All, some advice would be fantastic right now. My partner and I are looking to buy in the Maitland area due to relocation. Initially we were thinking about Maitland or East Maitland but our budget no longer stretches, our picked suburbs are South Maitland, Rutherford, Telarah or Metford? Can anyone offer advice about these areas? This will be for us to live in and not just an investment property. If anyone can offer advice about any future developments that may affect our decision, crime rates, growth or anything like that we would hugely appreciate it. It's such a big decision for first home buyers. Thanks so much, Natalie

Hi Natalie, Rutherford is great and so is South Maitland. However with Telarah and Metford those areas can be a bit of hit and miss depending on where you are looking to buy. There is usually a little more crime in those areas. The new hospital in Metford has only started about 12 months ago so I think they also still have a few years of constructions going on there.
