Is Malanda North QLD a nice place to live?

Hi, I'm a 24 year old single mum and looking for a sea change. I come from a small country town that's even smaller the Malanda and am thinking of moving there next year. I don't know anyone there so it's a whole fresh start. My question is what are the people like? Will it be easy to meet people? What are the primary schools like? And is finding a rental hard? Thank you. :)

Hi Charlene, Malanda is a friendly country town with an agricultural and farming focus. Finding rental properties across the whole of the Atherton Tablelands does appear to be challenging at the moment, with few properties coming on the market.

If you can find something, I'm sure you would meet people though the school community and otherwise; Malanda appears to be a tight knit community. Malanda High School is locally known as an excellent high school.

Don't now how old this question is but my answer would be don't go there. They don't like 'Blow-ins'. So if you weren't born there, don't have family there and have no connections there...don't live there. People there can be very hostile, though probably seem very nice and friendly to each other and those they know well. They don't give people a chance if from somewhwere else. Ugly town but beautiful surrounds though so if you can manage without people, probably o.k.....try Atherton or Mareeba instead would be my advice.
