The Learning Annex

I have often seen adverts and flyers for the Learning Annex around the city. The ads seem to advertise life improving seminars and ways to make money. If I am not mistaken Donald Trump seems to feature in many of these seminars while I understand there may be people who are eager to learn some of the Donald's wheeling dealing ways I was truly surprised to see an advert for a seminar featuring Teresa Giudice .. of the Real Housewives of New Jersey fame.
Teresa and her husband are known for their free spending, large than life spending which has plunged them into serious debt- 10-11million $ I think.. what could this woman then teach other New Yorkers?? Are these Learning Annex classes some kind of joke? who would plonk down $45 to listen to this woman?

Wait, are you saying the Donald has nothing better to do than teach seminars at the Learning Annex? As for Teresa, maybe she needs a job these days!

Uptowngirl: The Learning Annex is there for anyone who wishes to teach classes. I tired to create a class for them, but they found another instructor was teaching nearly the same course, so they turned me down. I have seen celebrities advertise in The Learning Annex regarding how to be a celebrity, or how to speak in front of people, etc.

@hhusted I actually saw a class which was televised because it was being taught by Bethenney Frankel of the Real Housewives of NYC fame. I can understand her having a class because she is quite a successful entrepreneur who is building her brand but this Teresa woman comes across like an air head but I guess such is the lure of Reality TV nowadays that any nobody can get away with anything.

@uptowngirl Is this such a lucrative gig that celebrities actually find it worth their while to do this in their free time?

Apparently discretion is advised when selecting a class from the Learning Annex roster then...

@Uraniumfish I really don't know but I have always seen these classes being heavily advertised so was wondering about them.

@uptowngirl The only way this could be lucrative for a celebrity is if they fill up huge lecture halls for each class.

@Uraniumfish Most of the classes are priced at $44.50 per head so I think more than big bucks they seem to be bit of a PR exercise though why in the world would the Donald need any PR, he's already larger than life!

@Uraniumfish: It's hardly free time. Even these celebrities get paid for teaching the classes they sponsor. Whatever they do with the money is up to them.

And I'm sure the celebs get paid more than the average bear.... Class prices are not necessarily indicative of what each speaker is being paid.

@BroadwayBk that's true but then the Learning Annex also has to make some money so how would they shell out big bucks for these celebs unless there are sponsorships and the like?
