This is a very impersonal answer because I don't have children at this school to offer personal accounts. Having said that, Melville SHS is a little different from most public schools because it is an Independent Public School. Basically that means it can hire the best teachers (or as they determine) and are responsible for their own operations like other independents. The Better Education guide rates Melville at 108 while many of the other schools in the area are rated much higher on that list. Of course, there are hundreds of schools in Perth, so 108 is still quite good. Some people don't like the ratings systems used, but I guess it is a comparison at the very least. On the school web site it states that it was ranked highly for the last 6 years in public schools.

I am a student at the school and personally it’s horrible, the students are disrespectful, and they discriminate any minority they can think of, they most literally ruin your life. And the teachers suck at dealing with it, obviously because the students don’t change. they don’t do enough about the bullying and or fights, they just make them leave school for a week instead of telling them what they did wrong and why they should never do it again? this world sucks dude.
