Have a look at East Vic Park. It has frequent bus services to the city as well as train if living in the area west of Shepparton Road, for example Dane St. Restaurants, cafes and shops are all in close walking distance. River, golf and casino are a short bicycle ride. Hospitals, airport, racecourses and Northbridge precinct are a short taxi ride. Plenty of accommodation suited to professional singles and couples and competitively priced.

Melville is worth looking at. It's safe. Close to the river. And not as pricy as Attadale and Applecross. Yet.
