We are a retiring couple wanting to move to Nagambie - what's it like?

we would like to hear from local people about what they think of their town

Nagambie (home of racehorse Black Caviar) is a lovely quiet, little friendly town perched on the side of a lake which is controlled by the weir on the Goulburn River and is therefore very stable in water levels. Rowing regattas are regularly held on the lake and it is very good for fishing. There is a beautiful new estate right on the lakeside named Elloura Estate. I have a building block for sale there and I am happy to discuss further on 0414815920. it is short walk on lovely board walk to the shopping precinct.
I have found the locals extremely friendly, and wanting to help me join clubs - golf, bowls etc - and churches. A typical country town shopping centre is poised to become a weekend tourist mecca, now that the Hume Highway heavy traffic has been diverted from the mail street. There a number of places to dine out, play the pokies, buy your staples, chemist for prescriptions, second hand and curio shops etc. A highway drive just over an hour takes you to Melbourne with all the services you could need. An excellent train service runs several times a day to Melbourne or Shepparton on the Murray.
