I've had two sons go through the High School (NVSHS) and I was really happy with the school. It has great teachers in most of its fields, and in addition to its focus on the academic subjects, its dance program, drama program and sports programs have been first rate. Great musicals too!!

Our 3 children fist started at North Lakes College. We found it disorganised and not worth the $$$. We relocated from North Lakes to Narangba for a more relaxed neighbourhood, easier to get to the shops and schools without a 15 minute drive through the rabbit warren housing estates that just go on and on. We left our 650m2 block with small 2 storey house to a 1000m2 block with huge house and pool for the same price. Our oldest daughter graduated 2 years ago with excellent OP score of 4. Is now at Uni of Qld. Our son is graduating this year with good scores too. He has a great group of mates and wants to go on to do engineering. He did the Science and Maths program a few years ago. Our youngest daughter is now in the music and netball academy. We can not fault this school. We do not understand why people waste their money on private schools when you've got this great School at your doorstep. No more driving. No more fees. My kids can get an extra 6 hours sleep a week. A must for teens. And Best of all... No buses to catch!!!$

Which school did they go to?

Narangba Valley High School is where they are now. Our kids are very happy there. Great facilities. Excellence programs. I don't see many private school with these excellence programs and academies for sports, dancing, music, netball, footy. Our kids like their uniforms too. No daggy hats. :/

St. Eugene's is a great school just down the road, with bus access for the kids. It's P-12.

Narangba Valley State High School is rated the second best in QLD apparently. This year they have just gone independent. That is that they will be self governed but remain a State School. My son started there last week. They turn out great student results for university entrance.

Narangba Valley State High School teachers make it seem like they do an excellent job of teaching students when really, teachers allow students to play on their phones during class and not focus on learning the basics of life and different skills that they WILL need when they are older. Kids and teachers swear, do drugs, disrespect teachers, bully, fight and way more. They make up fake things and lie about their achievements to make it look like they are good at everything when really, students don't know anything. My advice would to be to send your child to a private school or a public school that actually does well in education and with friends and family you know that go there. For example; Grace Lutheran College, Carmichael college and a whole bunch of others. I know it may seem like im throwing shade at them but thats what they really do. Teachers swear and be rude to students. Students turn fowl and start disrespecting parents. Children at that school that are 12 and up start doing drugs and drinking underage and start fights that get too out of hand until the police have to be call cause its that bad. This may seem fake but my cousins son and daughter who have graduated there and they said to me what i have just wrote about. PLEASE BE AWARE OF THE SITUATION AND TO SHARE THIS MESSAGE!!

I have never read such a load of bollocks in all of my life.

marieh7 Everything you say is so spot on. I lived in a house backed onto a park behind woolies. I witnessed firsthand students (they call themselves eshays) and wanna-be eshays smoking cigarettes and pot in the walkway every morning and afternoon. I also witnessed firsthand one of these students hitting another student over the head with a baseball bat. Fights occur daily and the school does nothing. The school, nor most of the students (not all) have little to no respect or courtesy for anyone but themselves. They stroll or ride across the road in groups in front of moving cars without even looking. Most of the kids don't wear helmets on bikes. There is a lot of bullying that goes on and nothing gets done about it. They have the foulest mouths I've ever heard. My daughter was bullied for over a year and the school did nothing about it. She went from being an outgoing young girl who was not shy about anything, to being diagnosed with depression and anxiety caused by these other girls. She completely withdrew from life, would not leave her room, was covered head to toe in tracksuits and hoodies, and wouldn't leave the house. She was forced to do distance education because of this and the school did nothing to reprimand the girls who were bullying her. The teachers, principal, and deputy all say they will do things but never follow through. There is never any communication from the school unless it's to complain about something and they don't even bother to respond to parent emails or phone calls. They do not help students with special needs like other schools. They deny students items they are entitled to for learning. They do not assist lower-income families like other schools not do they assist the kids who are struggling. They let the students play on their phones in class and are very quick to accuse students of things before getting any proof. My son and his classmate in year 12 were recently accused of plagiarism for having the same answer in a maths question where there was only one answer for it which was provided by the teacher anyway. Never has he plagiarised or been accused of it but all of a sudden since last year the school has been on his case about every little thing. His last year of school and he's really going to bother plagiarising something. If he didn't know how to do something or really didn't want to he just wouldn't do it, he won't waste time copying another's work. So because of this, the two boys have to spend 3 days sitting in a room doing unrelated work with only two x 10-minute breaks meanwhile missing out on 3 days of actual subjects which they will be expected to catch up on. What annoys me the most is that the school did not mention this and only mentioned both boys losing marks because of it. The school is quick to take your money for things they say they provide but then don't. The school counselor was meant to meet up with my son twice a week at the least and in a12 month period he saw her maybe 3 or 4 times and they would never return my calls or emails either. I took a student under my wing for a couple of months because he got kicked out of his home. He had only the clothes on his back as his parents refused to even give him his uniform. The school said how much they would help me and they did nothing. Long story short, the school did nothing to help support him or assist me in helping him when they knew the entire situation. Then when I caught the student stealing from me and I told the school that I was not having him at my home again, they sent the school counselor around to try and take things that I had paid for. The teachers are always leaving and changing because of the way the school is. So I advise anyone to reconsider sending their kids to this school. The school is not proactive or reactive, they are just lazy and don't give a crap.
