Most-missed restaurant

It's a sad fact of the restaurant business that NYC eateries come and go. Anyone have a favorite restaurant that unfortunately shut down? Mine was Cafe Guy Pascal on 89th and Madison (now replaced by a Duane Reade - bwah!) I had the same thing every time I went in there - their hot, delicious soup of the day (usually vegetable soup), there Francofied chicken curry with rice, and their amazing, sensational, decadent, Almond Delice - one layer of cake, then one of whipped cream, then one of chocolate cream, then some more cake, then almond cream, then toasted almonds on top! Heavenly!

Mine has to be the Payard Patiserrie and Bistro on 73rd street and lexington. More than the food I used to adore going to Payard for a coffee and a flourless walnut cookie which I had convinced myself was 'healthy'.

The only restaurant I like more than any of the others is Brother Jimmy's. They serve mostly country food.

I used to live above Zozo's on Stanton and Orchard...now it's some kind of noodle bar. They had really delicious zucchini sticks and chipolte mayo and mango chutney..... I really couldn't believe they closed, though with the rent hike in the LES it shouldn't have surprised me.

@BroadwayBK Zozo's menu sounds divine.. the rent issue is crazy .. apparently Payatd's rent was jacked up from $28000 a month to $62000 a month. I haven't gone back to the area to check if the space has been rented out as yet.

Oh oh oh! Splendida on 93rd and Madison. Did great, higher-end pizza in a rather upscale restaurant-venue. Alas, replaced by a cheap takeaway.

@Uptowngirl: Are you telling me that the rent Payatd's had to pay went from $28,000 to $62,000 a month. That is unheard of.
