Obama Is Coming to NYC

I read today in amNewYork that Obama is coming to NYC this week. He is coming here to give a speech to push his financial regulation package.

Bloomberg didn't know a think about it. He said he read about it on a blog. What a miscommunication that was for someone.

Political consultant Hank Sheinkopf said it was a mistake by the Obama Administration. Well, there is no doubt that someone made a mistake.

NYC was a little chaotic today, but the city survived. Obama will head home tomorrow.

@hhusted the city always get chaotic when the big wigs are in town.. wonder how Wall Street will react to Obama's push for financial regulation.. NYC is most likely to be affected by it for the city's economy is heavily dependent on the fortunes of Wall Street. Btw what do you guys think of the whole Goldman Sach's affair?

I wish I could say I'm surprised, @uptowngirl, but I have to admit I'm really - really not...

@uptowngirl Hah! Never ever did I think I would live to see the day that they actually get prosecuted for being the vile little world-ruining vipers that they are. I'm so glad they're at least trying to go after these guys. about time. It's exactly the untouchable mentality that caused them to act so recklessly int he first place.

@Uptowngirl: If Goldman goes down, like someone claimed they would, that will be another loss to Wall Street. They've lost so many investment firms already.

@Uraniumfish: Precisely. You took the words or partial words out of my mouth. I was going to say the same thing about those vile companies.

@Uraniumfish you echo my feelings but Goldman has way too much political clout to actually fail.. I do think they will be dented though for a bit. The Huffington Post has a series of articles on the whole issue- have a look
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/linda-keenan/emshadow-eliteem-goldman_b_547500.html .. the posts indicate how far reaching their influence is..

It's a sad day when banks that deserve to fail can't fail because of political concerns....although the conspiracy theorist in men just assumes that it was always this way

What are all those bankers gonna do? I don't want to have to be sparing change to a Brooks Brother's clad man in front of Bar Pitti. . . . :)

@uptowngirl You can certainly see how far-reaching their influence is when you look at photos of presidents since the 80's and realize what an astonishing percentage of the advisors in the back had worked for GS at one time in their careers...

I heard a rumor he may be here for the grand opening of the ERDA Federal Credit Union tomorrow. Bloomberg is definitely going to be checking it out. Maybe Al Sharpton too.

Ahh that would have been nice to go to! Considering i am just a state away from New York i wish i had known about it sooner! I would have taken my "vacation" sooner just to go see him!

@Marinterran: I checked and found nothing about the event. Does anyone know if Obama did attend the ERDA?

The POTUS has got to be so so careful with security these days. The opening is tomorrow, April 26 at 11:00am, as you can see in the link I posted earlier.

All I know is, a friend of mine works there and said they had to do a LOT of security, and that they got calls from Secret Service guys. Could all come to nothing but at the very least, Obama's dudes were checking it out. And hey, whether Obama shows up or not, congrats to everybody over at ERDA for all their hard work finally paying off!

But several high ranking people are covered by secret service, plus the Obama family. It doesn't mean The Man himself would be the one attending, if at all.

Someone told me that when Obama was here the police department swept his path clear of bikes - as in, they cut down every bike that was on any sidewalk in the presidential path and carted them all away and that no one knows what they actually did with the bikes. Also, no one was really warned that they were going to do such a thing in order to protect Obama from potential pipe bombs....

@Uraniumfish that's what I meant .. all that political clout has allowed GS a free rein to do whatever they please..

@Everyone has anyone been watching the grilling of Goldman CEO Lloyd Blankfein and other Goldman executives on Capitol Hill? these guys who seem to have an aura of invincibility around them suddenly seem to be squirming and ducking for cover but I do wonder if any thing will ever come out of it...

DBlack: Yeah, I know what you mean. With all the protection he has around him, how could you see him easily. Then again, he's not too hard to find. Just follow where a huge crowd is gathering and there is a lot of noise.

@NeverSleeps: I did not hear of such a thing. Did that really happen?

@Uptowngirl: Yes, eventually the government will get them and take them down. It is just a matter of time. They need to pay for their crimes.

Supposedly. But I can totally see it happening. Wouldn't surprise me in the least.
