One Snowstorm after Another
Anyone want to go with me to a warmer climate?

@hhusted I hear NYC's pain.. all my friends have been sending me pics and moaning about how snowy and slushy it is..believe me that's one aspect of NYC I do not miss at all..
@hhusted here are the stats this winter has been the 6th snowiest winter on record

I'm rather enjoying it, but I also don't have too long of a commute most days.
I'm kinda not enjoying it one bit. It's hard to look presentable with a continual onslaught of elements.
@JenMac No one else looks presentable either, though.
@Uraniumfish,Jen Mac Try as I might I am always a mess during NYC winters, for my nose is continually running thanks to the cold.
It's not easy to look good in snow boots, that's for sure.
@uptowngirl I have that problem too, but I don't seem to be coming down with a cold or anything. The winter wind makes my eyes water, too. I look like a sobbing mess every time I walk up the block.
@NeverSleeps I am hoping all the groundhogs of NYC don't see their shadow on Wednesday and Spring arrives early in NYC.
In addition to looking like holy hell, I can't seem to stop being sick this winter for some reason. It has been the perpetual plague. Come on Spring!
@uptowngirl Cheers to that!
I am not minding the cold all that much, especially since leaving my car in Florida. If I hadn't done that then I'd certainly be longing for warmer temperatures. Also just spent the better part of two months in Florida where it was mostly 70 degrees, so maybe I can't really talk.
Thankfully I am confined inside, except for an occasional walk down the block to the store or pharmacy. I was told to limit my time in the cold. However, I did hear the ground hog did not see his shadow, so hopefully, that will mean we will get an early spring. However, don't count on it. We are to have another storm this Saturday. It just keeps on rolling along.
@everyone how accurate is Staten Island Chuck.. I have actually begun to track the weather for March and accuweather.com predicts 40s and 50s that I can live with...
@Uptowngirl: Don't rely on it. Weather is too unpredictable. How can someone rely on an animal to dictate the weather. I never believed in the ground hog theory. That it was just a publicity stunt that turned into a tradition.
hhusted: obviously, the groundhog day thing is just a fun tradition. Even if Puxatony Phil does see his shadow, he never says . . . because he's a groundhog.
@JenMac: I know. A reporter said last year that the owner of the ground hog, takes him out of his borrow, shines a flashlight on him, declares a shadow is seen, this way people will expect six more weeks of winter weather. It is just a stunt to play on the minds of people. Everyone knows that winter doesn't officially end till the end of March (21st), if then. But it is a fun tradition as you said. People get a kick out of it.
There isn't a flashlight on the critter. There's a huge ceremony for it every year.
@JenMac that's what I thought didn't the groundhog bite Bloomberg recently
@uptown: I did not know about this, but I kinda hope so! Serves him right for a slew of reasons; but, I would bite someone if he put his grubby mits through my front door and pulled me out by my neck fat into a crowd of dumb gawkers.
@JenMac it was two years ago that Staten Island Chuck bit him

Yeah I saw the footage of Bloomberg trying to wrestle with the fat beast and thought - "Awkward!" He looked so ridiculous and uncomfortable in his role.
