In a word, YES! The North Beach neighborhood in San Francisco seems to have been uniquelly engineered to be for singles. Lots of cool bars and young people and cafes and the romantic night skies and tourists and activity! I lived there for a summer out of college and loved it!
The only problem is it is wayyyy toooo expensive! But for a year it is worth going into hawk for it--especially if you say have a Financial District job or work for one of those start-ups in the Mission and SoMa.
