North Curl Curl is a suburb of the Northern Beaches and is located 19 kilometres north east of the Sydney central business district in the local government area of Warringah Council.

North Curl Curl’s original lure was its lagoon and beach. The beach is safest and most attractive in the northern corner during summer and is popular with families. North Curl Curl Surf Life Saving Club was founded in 1922 and is a volunteer community service patrolling from September to April each year.

The size of North Curl Curl is approximately 1 km². It has 3 parks/reserves covering nearly 32% of the total area. North Curl Curl has numerous sport and recreation facilities including netball and soccer fields, Bowls Club, Rugby League, cricket and baseball grounds.

There are 2 schools located in North Curl Curl – North Curl Curl Primary School and Manly Selective High School.

North Curl Curl has Vegetarian, Indian and Thai restaurants as well as several good cafes and take away shops.

Other attractions to North Curl Curl are a beautiful headland track taking you round to Dee Why Beach & cafes, enjoy a day at the beach, walk around Curl Curl Lagoon and children’s parks, enjoy the rock pools around North Curl Curl surf pool.

My wife and I bought a cottage in North Curl Curl 2 years ago. My wife grew up in the area. Can't think of anything bad except that it is quite hilly so if you live up high be prepared for a bit of exercise. There's hardly any appartments in North Curl Curl so the streets are quiet and family friendly. The beach is probably the best I have seen in the world - safe and not touristy. The local primary school is great and Manly High School is on your doorstep (this selective school achieves some of the best results of Sydney schools). Bus travel to the city is about 45 minutes so the commute is a bit of a chore.

Once you stumble upon North Curl Curl you’ll wish you’d discovered it earlier. The entire southern perimeter of the suburb is surrounded by John Fisher Park, a great place for exercise and relaxation. Follow the lagoon along and you will find one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Sit and listen to the waves roll in or enjoy a pleasant swim. When the surf is too rough, you can cool off in the rock pool under the cliffs.

Located between Curl Curl and Dee Why, most properties in North Curl Curl are along the headland. Many have beautiful views of the ocean or the city skyline and with a history of steady capital growth, purchasing property in this suburb is a wise long-term investment.

Local village style shops allow you to pick up everything from the essentials to the latest fashion. When you have finished shopping, pop into Curly’s on the Corner, the local café, known for its ‘friendly food and tasty staff”. If the occasion calls for something special, visit Emilia’s, Chilli Spot or one of Dee Why’s restaurants just 5 minutes up the road.

With both a public school and two private schools, the suburb is abuzz on weekday afternoons with kids walking home. Coupled with big backyards and sporting facilities nearby (surf club and playing fields at John Fisher Park), North Curl Curl is the ideal place to raise your family.

Travelling to and from North Curl Curl is a breeze. Even at peak hour, you can be at Wynyard in 45 minutes. With three normal and two express bus lines which provide direct links to Chatswood, Frenchs Forest, Manly and Dee Why, transport is never going to be a problem.

North Curl Curl is a suburb of Sydney 19 kilometres north-east of the CBD in the local government area of the Warringah Council but still considered to be in the Northern beaches district of Sydney. Bounded on the north by Narraweena and Dee Why, the east by the Pacific Ocean, the south by North Manly and Curl Curl and to the west by Brookvale. The population in 2006 was 3289 with 26.3% under 18 and 16.1% over 60. Dwellings cost well over the million mark.

I am always amazed at the need for swimming pools in a city on the coast. When flying over North Curl Curl the blue of artificial water holes is quite striking. Check it your self using Google Maps. I am yet to see any one using a pool.

An interesting and possibly useful piece of trivia is that there are 4 sets of public toilets in North Curl Curl, at the Surf Life Saving Club, The Sports Centre, John Fisher Park and at Reub Hudson Oval.

The salt water pool is a photographer's (and kids) playground. The pool is tidal and so is flushed twice a day. It is always worth taking a look at the pool from all angles as on occasion pranksters have been known to drop a shark or two in overnight as a kind of wake up present for early bathers.
