"Quiet place within 15 km of CBD with all amenities in walking distance"

The price to value ratio does not get better within 15 km of CBD in Eastern and South Eastern suburbs of Melbourne. Melbourne’s best public primary school (Score of 100 for last 8 years), Melbourne’s top golf courses (Metropolitan etc), Woolies, Bunnings, Chemist Warehouse, Bakers delight, cafes, baby bunting - all within 5 minutes walk, full of large leafy trees and exotic birds.
Two bus routes (733 and 933) connecting to other suburbs and stations like Oakleigh, Huntingdale just 2 mins drive away. Chadstone and Southland at 10 mins drive.

"Peaceful and close to city"

Quiet suburb tucked away not too far from the city, but close enough without the hustle and bustle. Amenities including Oakleigh central, train stations and Chadstone mall are just a few minutes away.

"A beautiful quiet area that has shops nearby and friendly neighbours"

Quiet area, friendly neighbours, lived here for 19 years, no crime at all, and close to great areas, such as malvern east, bentleigh, cheltenham, clayton, moorabbin, Springvale, Oakleigh and oakleigh east. so plenty of work areas aswell as shops such as chadstone southland. Very near is Oakleigh where you can go out for a coffee with your friends at Vanilla

Rentals in Oakleigh South

"A really under-rated suburb with lots of potential"

Oakleigh south has been a great place to live since we moved in 3 yrs back. The only weak point we initally thought was distance of a supermarket from our place. But now there is whole new shopping complex coming up scheduled to be finished by April 2012 which would include woolworths and other home and garden centres at the corner of warrigal and centre rd which would make all the necessities at door step. The 913 bus route is efficient and buses are not much crowded till oakleigh which makes it easier to get seat. Locals are excellent, all the services are handy and being close to school and parks makes it a great life for kids and family. I'm really happy with our decision to move to Oakleigh south and would recommend everybody.

Great for

  • Supermarket at door step
  • Efficient bus route
  • Green and clean
  • Close to transport
  • Great eats
  • Shops

Live near caroll road and bourke road area every day in morning at 6am teh land fill trucks start thier chirping, and dont know what work they carry out but the house shakes as if a minor earthquake give it 2 to 3 on richter scale ;) Great area, unfortunately lived here for last 4 years but in the last year its almost worst than third world countries with the smell of the near by land fills wafting around, generally noticed at dusk, sometimes can smell from as far as Clayton station follow the EPA web site for more details.

Great for

  • Close to transport
  • Shops
  • Great eats

Not great for

  • Land fill foul smells
