Reviews of Peron, WA

"Otherwise known as Point Peron!"

Peron, known as Point Peron to most of us, is located on a small promentory off the Shoal Water Bay area of Rockingham. It is known to many older Perthites as a school camping ground, due to the regular excursions taken there during school years. Although, Peron is a suburb, it is not really a residential area. Instead it is a local tourist destination and with that in mind further reading about the area is probably best sought out on the tourist pages for WA or Perth. As a primer, I can say that the area is known for its protected beaches and limestone cliffs, with excellent snorkelling to be had on the reefs. Point Peron also saw some activity in WW2 with gunners and bunkers established to help protect the shores of WA. There are some ruins still remaining for the public to view. There is access (military only) to Garden Island from here, but as usual - not for the general public. Point Peron was named after French naturalist Francois Peron who was part of the 1801 expedition with Nicholas Baudin.

Great for

  • A favorite Perth tourist destination.
  • Eco delight and snorkelling trail!
