Safe affordable suburbs

I am a single mother looking at moving to Perth from the country. Everywhere I have looked at has so many mixed reviews, I am at a loss as to where to start. So any input would be appreciated. My first priority would ultimately be somewhere I feel safe and comfortable to live by myself with my son, affordable to buy in (under 400k) and good schooling. Thank you again for any help provided.
