Reviews of Port Campbell, VIC

"a perfect place to visit, a great place to live."

Port Campbell is a unique little fishing village situated on The Great Ocean Road 3 hours from Melbourne along the Princes Highway or a good deal longer if you travel down along the Great Ocean Road. If you travel this way the you need to allow a few hours to explore some of this amazing coastline, the National Park & walking tracks etc.The main street leads down to a safe swimming beach surrounded by the Port Campbell National Park. You can get a great meal at the local pub or just be happy with fish & chips on the foreshore. Busy little place in Summer would provide an amazing lifestyle. Good food, friendly locals and a variety of accommodation choices if you want to check it out for a couple of days.

"Small town along the Great Ocean Road"

Port Campbell is a small town along the Great Ocean Road and is a favourite pit stop for many tour operators and independent tourist. This is mainly because it is the closest town to the famous Twelve Apostle and the surrounding attractions.

There are a handful of restaurants, cafes, shops, bakery and a convenience store in this small town. Be prepared to pay top tourist dollars when eating in this town. I once bought a fly net for ten dollars! That said, it is a pretty town with plenty of grass and nice benches to sit at while you enjoy your lunch. It is next to the water and everything here is very neat and orderly. There is also a caravan park for those who are interested in camping.

"Spectacular coastal views"

Escape the rat race and take in some of the world's most stunning coastal views along the Great Ocean Road. Port Campbell is a short drive away from the famous 12 Apostles, London Bridge, the Arch, the Grotto and Loch Ard Gorge. All of these are well worth a look and attract tens of thousands of international vistors each and every year. If you're staying in Port Campbell for the weekend, there is a great seafood restaurant or you can enjoy a delicious meal at the local hotel. Helicopter rides are also popular and there are plenty of great fishing spots.

"a nice location to get away from it all"

A beautiful beach and some good palces to eat and drink are some highlights. It is only a small town but it had a great feel to it while we were there. There were plenty of visitors around as well.

The beach reminded me of a small town on the Cique Terre in northern Italy because of the little inlet in which it sits. We spent a lot of time simply enjoying the sunshine on the beach with our daughter.

The shops have a good range of products so you wouldn't often need to go outside of Port Campbell. the bottleshop also stocked some great local beers.

Quiet and very livable but not too sleepy, there looked to be some new developments happening.
