Reviews of Port Macdonnell, SA

"Get in quick!"

Port MacDonnell is a small fishing village located 25km south of Mt Gambier. Mt Gambier is the 2nd biggest city in S.A and has all facilities needed. The town is great for all types of people. There are opportunities for many sports including Football, Netball, Golf (9 hole course), Fishing and diving. The local pub and Perriwinkles offer great affordable meals, there is a gym, a supermarket and a couple of great fish n’ chip shops. The area offers affordable coastal living which is starting to become rare in Australia. The town is a great area to buy and is up and coming...

"Great Sleepy fishing village on the coast"

Port Mac is a fantastic sleepy cray fishing village on the coast. Its a fantastic place to relax and get away from it all. Caravan park is right next to the beach as well.

"A rugged coastal retreat near Mt Gambier"

Port Mac (as it is affectionately called by the locals) is situated over 400 kilometres to the south of Adelaide and is just a handy 20 minute drive from Mount Gambier, South Australia’s second largest city.

Like all beachfront towns in SA, this quiet little seaside town has benefited from the huge boom in real estate prices and property sales. There are some old shacks and cottages, as well as quite a few more modern beach houses which have been built in recent times.

The coastline is rugged and wild, offering some beautiful walking tracks and good fishing. Water temperatures are very cold, and the weather is usually quite brisk as well although there are some hot summer days. The beach itself has a fair bit of seaweed.

The town is a popular holiday spot, with a number of small shops and delis, plus great fish and chips.
