Birdwood

"Nice country town in the Adelaide Hills"

Birdwood is famous for its motor museum. A lot of old motor cars in the museum get started up and driven once a year, so they are all perfectly good cars. Its worth taking an hour or 2 to spend going through the museum

"The only place in Australia I know of that you can swim with dolphins in the wild"

Monkey Mia is awesome for that fact. There are park rangers there that will feed the dolphins fish, but never enough for them to rely on it solely. We were fortunate enough to have the dolphins come right up to us as we were standing there, and rub against us. That was pretty cool - hence if you are ever up that far in WA, make the effort to go and visit Monkey Mia

Lobethal

"Quaint little town in the Adelaide Hills - but Xmas time is when it comes alive"

Lobethal is this beautiful little town in the Adelaide Hills, but at Xmas time, the locals pull out all strings to make ita tourist attraction for kids and big kids alike. Xmas lights and nativity displays are up all through the streets by the locals and at night time, it really is something to see. If you have kids, and are going near Lobethal just before Xmas, take the time to go and see the lights - they are awesome

"Awesome town in the Adelaide Hills"

A heap of mates and i went here in the late 90's to a B&S Ball. Was one of the best times I have ever had. Stopped off at the local pub for a beer too, and the locals are really friendly. I'd be happy to live here.

Lagoon Rd

"Dirt road that goes across the top of Porters Lagoon"

Porters Lagoon is a very shallow lake that a lot of Burra locals use to go swimming, and something skiing in. Can dry up quickly, but when it rains, fills up quickly as well. The road itself is only 1 house on it (not far from the lagoon), so good if you like the fresh country air

Port Broughton

"Country town on the coast of the Spencer Gulf"

Port Broughton used to, and I think still does have the longest jetty in South Australia. It is now more a recreational fishing jetty, with a few Commercial Fisherman still calling Port Broughton home. Their main catch is scalefish and Blue Swimmer Crabs

Living in Port Broughton was a terrible decision. Port Broughton is in the middle of swamp areas, it is full of mosquitoes, flies and midgies. I could not go outside or bare any skin because I got bitten all over and came up in huge itchy welts. Nothing deterred or stopped them. I even got bitten through my clothes. They must have titanium jaws. The midgies would get inside so I was even attacked on every part of my body inside and when sleeping. I could not open windows or doors, which made hot days extremely difficult. You can't see them to know they are there, until too late when the itching starts. I've lived all over Aust. and never experienced anything like these attacks. They seem to be unique species to this area. The flies are also intolerable, sticking to you like glue. The beach is rocky and stinky, definitely not a pretty beach to sit, walk or swim at. The rotten swampy, polluted stench comes into the house when windows and doors are open so it was not pleasant to have them open even minus parasitic insects. The weather is terrible (extremes of everything). Very stormy in winter, and very hot and dry in summer, always with strong afternoon winds 12 pm to 6 pm. The closest shops (proper shops and services) are a two hour drive. It's in the middle of nowhere. I absolutely hated the place and glad to be free. I was just a piece of meat for all the blood suckers around the area. It was absolute torture. Terrible environment.

"Small town near the Victorian border."

We used to go through here on our way from Bordertown to the Riverland. Never really stopped here though as we had no real reason too. It used to be the half way mark

"White rubble road that is nice and wide and has a few farm houses on it"

As kids, we used to ride our pushbikes on this road, and I remember one year we stopped where the drain went under the road, and crawled through the drain. Wasn't much fun as there were a few spiders in it

There are about 5 roads that intersect what is Pooginagoric, and there is only one house there, so I'm not really sure why its classed as a town.
