I was down at Portsea back beach not long ago, and was walkind near London Bridge, and was thinking...why is it called London Bridge?

Isn't there a story behind it?

It does actually look a bit like the old London Bridge which was dismantled and shipped off to Arizona quite a number of years ago. Apparently the Americans thought they were buying Tower Bridge when they wanted a feature for their tourist park but got misled!

London Bridge these days is an exceptionally dull structuree over the Thames directly south of the City financial district. Nearby is the "Monument" a Roman column built in 1675 to remember the Fire of London - perhaps there should be a "Monument" constructed in Victoria to rember the bush fire casualties.
