Robinvale Irrigation District Section B, VIC 3549

I grew up in Robinvale and life was good. I went off to Uni, travelled overseas and lived and worked in Sydney and Melbourne. Somehow I ended up meeting the boy from down the road from where I grew up. I married him, have three children and live approximately 42 kms from a great little place called Robinvale. Robinvale is a town of unofficially between 1500 and 2500 people. It was built by soldier settlers after WWII who worked hard to create the burgeoning irrigation district it is today. Horticulture is the dominant industry in the area. Table grapes, wine grapes, vegetables, pistachio's, almonds, olives, dried fruit, stonefruit and all manner of grain varieties are grown in and around the district.
The main avenue for entertainment is sport and recreation. Many sports are on offer from tennis, football, netball, golf, water skiiing, fishing, badminton, aerobics... the list is endless. These activities provide the community with much of its social opportunities. Oh we do have a community run cinema once a week!
We have arguably the best stretch of river on the Murray with families returning year in year out for long weekends and Easter for skiing, camping and fishing. Above the weir the river runs deep and wide and afford some great water skiing.
There are several schools in the area one catholic P-8 school and a public P-12. Both have their share of problems but I havent heard of anyone carrying a knife or weapon to school yet! Like many places there a problems but government and volunteer groups are working hard to find solutions. Robinvale is pretty good and compared to other larger towns nearby we dont happen a lot of the issues they have.
