I have heard that Roleystone has winter storm power outages more often - true?
When talking to a few people living in the area, they have mentioned power going out more quickly, more often and taking longer to get back on. Any truth to this, or just their bad luck.

It used to be that way but has improved considerably in the last 4 years when the power company did a major upgrade, which is ongoing.

I have friends in the areaand the real issue is the trees. Since it is a natural area people have lots of trees and there are natural areas as well. Whenever there is a storm, or a bit of bad weather, somewhere a tree knocks out a power line (in more than one place) and so the power goes out and takes longer to get back on if there are a lot of fallen trees on power lines. Western Power want everyone to cut their trees but it costs a lot of money and not everyone can do it all the time. I guess it is part of the cost of living in the 'semi-bush' or hills areas.
