Flooding damage

Hello

I am based in Sydney and plan to relocate to Brisbane in a few years to live. My plan is to buy that house now and rent it out until my family is ready to relocate.

I am planning on travelling up in the next couple of weeks to view suburbs such as Wynnum/Sandgate/Redcliffe. Does anyone know how badly these were affected by the floods? I am keen to come and see them but obviously no point if they are still recovering.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, all the suburbs you mention flood. There's an easy trick to test your potential home's flood risk. Call Suncorp insurance and get a home insurance quote on that address. The quote will tell you if you are a high risk address. My oldest sister's home premium just increased from 24,000 to 30,000 per year. My brother pays 12,000 per year. I am not considered flood risk and I pay 3,000 per year for a 500k cover. Trust this helps
