Hi anitaf2
Are you still considering Sheffield?
I spent some time in Sheffield growing up and lived not too far away for a good few years not that long ago.
Sheffield is great - it has a fabulous country town feeling, with friendly locals, good stores, lots of things to get involved in throughout the year, service groups and community groups to engage with. It isn't that far to drive to Devonport or Launceston for major services and you really can't beat waking up to the sight of that glorious mountain everyday.

Are there any streets to avoid when buying?

We are a retired couple and have just purchased a house in Sheffield. We chose to live here (coming from NSW) because it's a wonderful and friendly town with country values... . the locals were very welcoming. Everything you need is here in Sheffield town.... shops , good doctors and medical services, post office and government services as well as a lot of communal activity like the Men's Shed, walking groups and garden clubs etc. Bunnings, Kmart etc is a very pleasant 30min drive to Devonport. Sheffield is surrounded by glorious green countryside and farmland...... It's very picturesque and Mount Roland is just spectacular .......we love this area and looking forward to spending our retirement years here.
