Reviews of Belmore, NSW
"On the doorstep of the expensive inner west !"
I bought my home in Belmore North just south of Belfield and I love it. I'm a quick 10 minutes drive to Burwood and Strathfield CBDs. Lovely neighbours on my street who actually talk to you and I'm within walking distance of some decent restaurants including the offerings at Canterbury Leagues club. Next year I'm looking forward to the Metro opening which will surely set this suburbs home prices alight and make it a quick 25 minute train ride into the city. Belmore was previously overlooked but now I feel the suburb is finally coming into its own and definitely has a lot to offer.

"Undoubtedly the best upcoming suburb in the inner south west"
The most coming prestigious and luxurious suburb in the whole inner south west especially the north side with its so classy and expensive homes and mansions which are breathtaking.

"Will be unaffordable very soon"
Since couple of years, I told everyone that Belmore will be the new Burwood within the coming 10 years. It has a metro station( soon), heaps of parks, many schools, a pretty unique location, 12km to Sydney CBD, big 24h club and stadium, many eateries and very well mannered and friendly neighbourhood with high socioeconomic levels in most of its areas.
Very rare to find all these things in one suburb.
I would say confidently that it’s the best suburb to invest in the inner west as it is booming very soon.
Recommend personally buying in northern Belmore next to prestigious Belfield and Strathfield South .It has so classy and gorgeous streets in northern area with beautiful houses and mansions but of course if you could afford it.

"Great transport, amenities and family friendly"
We purchased in Belmore after doing our research as wanted a detached house with a decent sized backyard for the kids and pets. After settling in we've come to realize what an underrated suburb it is and have come to love where we live. Whilst there are still a few rough streets near canterbury rd, Belmore is definitely changing and you can get a decent sized block which is half the price tag of something 8 mins drive away in say Burwood or Strathfield. Here's my summary:
Pros:
1. Excellent transport to Town Hall for work which will only improve with the Metro upgrade next year.
2. Village-feel shopping strip on Burwood Road run by locals
3. Multicultural community of mainly younger families and older greek/leb/asian immigrants
4.(relatively) Affordable large blocks of land around 500sqm.
5. Nice mix of period, interwar, 60's/70's homes and new duplexes.
Cons:
1. Not great for schools. Local public schools are run of the mill. Need to look at catholic schools around like All Saints and St. Ursulas for the kids.
2. Lack of a major supermarket - need to go to campsie/burwood for coles and woolies (or online delivery).
3. Football hoons that honk and drive too fast when there is a Bulldogs game at Belmore oval.
Future prospects:
1. Metro train line upgrade will be a game changer.
2. $300m upgrade of nearby Canterbury hospital
3. Local council currently repaving main shopping strip.
4. $60m upgrade of parks and facilities around Belmore Sports Ground
A lot of public money is being invested in this suburb and I feel it will only get better from here. Will be interesting to see where Belmore can go in the next 7 to 10 years from its rough working class immigrant roots. I'm excited to be a part of it !

"Affordable and convenient with upcoming metro"
Nice suburb in the midst of gentrifying. Love the shops on Burwood road. Lots of families and very multicultural. Neighbours are families mix of Greek / Chinese / Lebanese /Vietnamese. Excited about the new metro coming in which will get us into the city in 20 minutes. North Belmore (next to Belfield and Strathfield south) has lovely character homes.

"Sense of community, and great food!"
I have lived in Belmore for 6 years now and have really embraced it as home. I wave to people on the streets and in stores. The business owners are friendly, warm and good at what they do! You don’t really need to leave.

"Belmore has captured my heart!"
Belmore is rich and enthusiastic with its amazing neighbourhood. I live in the best and most intelligent street in Belmore “ Kennedy Ave”. Honestly, Kennedy and Allan streets and the Belfield side in general is the top of the top in our suburb and that’s why people don’t hesitate to pay 💰 to join us there. Thx Belmore as we owe you.🌹❤️🌹

"The elegant suburb"
Belmore is upcoming suburb which you feel warmth and happiness when you have a walk through its streets. The restaurants, the club, the bulldogs, the schools and the station are all there. I would recommend buying in Kennedy or Allan Avenue as both are amazing streets which they look so beautiful and classy . The other side in Adelaide and Isabel streets is also good But stay away from the other side of Canterbury road as it is too far from all the important amenities.

"Best street in best suburb"
We live in Allan Avenue of Belmore since 1995. I can say frankly that Allan Avenue along with Kennedy Ave are the most prestigious and expensive streets in Belmore as they both are so close to Belfield, Campsie and Strathfield South which all are exceptional suburbs. Allan is very wide street which is so close to the train station and Belmore popular eateries BUT very quite and awesome street.
"Home!"
I've moved from Belmore to Beverly Hills, and I can tell you all one thing, Belmore has and always will be home! That suburb has looked after my family and I for about 9 years, now that I've moved away from it, it doesn't feel right. I honestly wish I could go back especially to the unit we were living in. I had it all there! Guys, Belmore IS the place to be! The people, the community, everything in Belmore is a fairytale! It's my version of a fairytale anyway lol I don't want to get into it because *here come the waterworks* I always end up regretting the fact that we left, I truly wish we hadn't. I miss everything there, literally EVERYTHING! Anyway, if you're planning on moving to Belmore, DO IT! :) You won't regret it I promise! Belmore will look after you the way it did me and my family and every other family that has felt the same way about that special suburb.

"Best Suburb is the Inner South West"
I moved to Belmore just over 5 years ago from Marrickville and love it. The Community in Belmore is so strong with neighbours extremely friendly. The vibe is very fresh, young and family oriented. There are loads of cafe's, restaurants, pubs, clubs, health services, community organisations and culture. Belmore is only located 11 kilometres from the CBD and has an express train line to the city. The Suburb prides itself on its Art Deco buildings and significant landmarks, just walking around the Suburb is truly marvellous. Over the time I have lived in Belmore I have noticed many professionals moving into the area including C-Class executives. Belmore has a Facebook group page called Belmore 2192. I recommend you check out the wonderful achievements the Suburb has made over time.

"New Strathfield"
Belmore is the place to be! So much development going on in Belmore and such a peaceful and safe suburb. I got to say there are lot of beautiful apartments getting built in this area that arent too tall and aesthetically pleasing to look at than the ones in Rhodes/Olympic.
Invested on one of the apartments here knowing there would be a metro line coming through (every 4min trains during peak) and major developments on the main strip. Tbh anywhere on the main strip of Burwood Rd out towards Canterbury Rd is a good investment!
Plus the best coffees here in Belmore at cafe rust bucket!! Ive been a loyal customer and they have never failed (ps. Try their pancakes)!!

"Belmore - suburban life with heart and character !"
I moved from Burwood to Belmore because Belmore is what burwood used to be about 15 years ago. Belmore still has heart and character. About 14km from the city, it was one of the few areas left close to the city that I could afford and I don't regret it one bit ! I left burwood due to all the high-rises, traffic congestion and the fact that there are so many people there now. I chose Belmore because my parents are still in Burwood and now I am only 9 minutes by car and yet can still enjoy quiet suburban life.
Pros:
*The village feel of the shopping strip - cafes, restaurants, bakeries, small family owned businesses who remember your name - reminds me of marrickville/rozelle
*Train station within walking distance - soon to be upgraded to Metro standards by 2024.
* The newly refurbished and expanded Bulldogs Leauges Club.
* Very multicultural, used to be a "greek neighbourhood" but now along with the greeks we have lebanese, chinese, australians and koreans.
* Very central to everything - not much difference in driving times when I lived in Burwood. Close to strathfield shops and campsie shops (which is where i do most my shopping)
* The cooks river cycling path (to cronulla) is very close to my place now.
* Neighbours are nice, one is greek and one is from Mauritius.
* Feels safe in the streets. Very family oriented.
Cons:
*Not many good private schools in belmore itself (need to go to Strathfield/Burwood/ Croydon for that).
*Not as many parks as other suburbs - but Rudd park is the closest to walk to (but that's in belfield not belmore).
*There is the not so good areas of belmore (the side closer to lakemba/punchbowl and generally south of canterbury road which is too far from the station).
But even this is changing now as more younger families move in and the area is experiencing gentrification due to the new metro corridor. The best streets in belmore would be the areas nearest to belfield/campsie/earlwood as these are the more expensive suburbs.

"Close to city and very affordable!"
I love living in Belmore, have lived here for over 10 years now since moving from the Eastern suburbs, Ive never had a problem and neighbours are friendly. I love the central location of this suburb its 14km from the city so you can drive to the CBD in 20mins, bus and train services, close to M5, drive to the airport in 15mins. It is a very convienient location and close to everything. Its a few kilometers away from the inner west without the price tag but with much bigger blocks of land larger streets with plenty of street parking definately great for families who still want to stay close to the CBD. It is still affordable now but I suspect it will be the new innerwest in the near future.
Great for
- Close to city

"Home to the mighty Bulldogs"
Belmore is a quaint family orientated suburb and carry’s an aura of days gone by, it is located 15Km South West of Sydney C.B.D in the city Canterbury
The main street (Burwood Road)is home to many small business with the large Greek and Lebanese communities reflecting this.
You’ll find Greek cake shops, butchers, fruit shops Lebanese charcoal chicken and various others, many of the shop buildings are period art-deco style which conger up images of yesteryear, Belmore certainly has that old world charm.
The Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs (NRL rugby League team) Leagues club is located in the heart of town and provides a enormous amount of entertainment
Belmore is a quiet part of suburbia where you can purchase modest accommodation at reasonable prices, currently the median house price is $534,000(2010)
With many Californian Bungalows, older style units and villa homes The suburb definitely caters for modest living no need to spend a million Dollars here.
Transport is good with a large Train Station and buses that will deliver you to most parts of Sydney.
If you are after a buzzing metropolis then Belmore isn’t for you, but on the other hand if you are looking to live in the outer suburbs and have dreams of owning your own home complete with white picket fence at a price that won’t break the bank then have a close look at Belmore.

"A great sense of community"
I love living in Belmore!
I have lived here a year and live in a unit in the heart of Belmore.
I have also lived a few other places in the inner west: Summer Hill, Hurlstone Park and Dulwich Hill. I would rank them in that order (Belmore first) based mostly on a community atmosphere and friendliness of the people. Belmore has the best restaurants and food shops of any of the places I have lived, and its cheap! There are a few great cafes, 2 fruit shops, 3 butchers, 2 bakeries, 2 cake shops :) many restaurants to choose from and it doesn't feel too busy here either.
And its only a 5 min drive to woolworths, 10 mins to aldi, if you need it.
There are plenty of parks and outdoor spaces to walk/run.
Less roaches than Summer Hill and Ashfield!
All in all my favourite place to live :)

"Belmore - Moving On Up!!!"
Belmore is a up & coming area. It still has the old-fashioned appeal of lots of indivdual shops rather than chain-stores, and this to me means personalised serviced by locals who know and remember you and your preferences when shopping. There are many fresh produce shops - butchers, green-grocers, many bakeries, seafood, specialised boutique supermarkets as well as health professionals, services such Post Offices, Banks, Newsagency, TAB, Solicitors, Hairdressers and light industrial such as mechanics etc. Burwood has also a lot of cosmopolitan eateries, a full range from your local take-away, to intimate cafes to ethnic restaurants. And there are a couple of clubs (Belmore RSL and Canterbury Leagues Club) and pubs. Transport is excellent, there is a train station in the middle of the shopping strip and buses also service Burwood Road.
Canterbury Council is investing big in the local shopping strip. Having already re-paved most of one side of the road in expensive modern large tiles, they are currently renovating the opposite side and also installing outside eating areas and new street furniture - all helping the great cafe culture that is evolving in Burwood Road.
It's not as busy as most inner-city shopping strips - you can safely cross the road - but it's just as good and interesting. The shopping is amazing, the locals really friendly. It's only 10-15 to Roselands or Campsie major shopping centres if you are after a Department Store too, so you do get the best of both worlds.
Watch out, Belmore is making it's mark!

"Belmore - Up & Coming Area"
Belmore is a great up & coming area with its great shopping strip along Belmore Road. You will find all kinds of fresh produce: butchers, fresh fruit & veg, seafood, bakeries and more. And Belmore has great cafes and restaurants and enjoys good day as well as evening trade be it weekdays or weekends. All your healthcare professionals as well as banking, post office, newsagency and various specialist supermarkets are also here making this one of the best shopping strips around! No chain stores here, only friendly personal service that is rarely seen elsewhere.
There is plenty of great entertainment with several pubs and clubs including the HUGE Canterbury Leagues club, just around the corner from Belmore Train Station. In fact the Leagues club is one of the best in the area with lots to offer with many different eateries, including a family budget style restaurant, and a great Health Club, and terrific entertainment.
And should you require shopping further afield Roselands and Campsie are only minutes away!

Very true.
"Burwood Road"
Driving through Burwood Road, Belmore shops, get prepared to go four wheel driving. When is that road ever going to be fixed? The same applies to the part of Kingsgrove Road that runs through Belmore.
