Reviews of Deagon, QLD
"Love my suburb!"
We’ve lived here for 25 years and raised our kids here. Train and Gateway is close by. Deagon is a hidden gem, more affordable than nearby suburbs but with all the benefits of beautiful bay, bush and history on our doorstep. Feel very lucky to live here.

Hi Chris, thanks for sharing. I was wondering what happened during the 2022 flooding in Deagon. We are looking into buying in this area but since we are new to Brisbane we want to know what locals think about it. Thanks !

Hi Nancy, it didnt flood where I live but it most certainly did in some other parts of Deagon. Be sure to check the Brisbane City Councils flood maps.
Thank you Chris :)
Sorry, if you dont mind me asking. Where is your street? I was looking at a house close to the mangroves and the train station
"Suburban dream with a coastal breeze"
Deagon's location allows it to have a perfect trilogy of great transport connections, great proximity to the ocean and beautiful big housing lots.
Most parts of Deagon are within a short walk to Sandgate and the Bay but without the price tag of Sandgate or Shorncliffe.
The area is safe and quintessentially suburban, with some great little hidden cafes, 2 nearby shopping centres and a great selection of restaurants and bars close by.
Trains are only 30 minutes to the city, the Gateway Mwy is on the doorstep and weekend morning walks by the Bay make this a perfect location to settle.

"Deagon - Sandgate without the price tag."
I bought my second house in Deagon six months ago, a 100 year old Queensland which has been relocated from Brisbane. Initially my wife and I were looking at Shorncliffe and Sandgate but decided it was to expensive especially considering the condition of some of the houses we looked at.
Just over the train tracks is Deagon, same style of houses (granted not all as grand as some Shorncliffe properties), with much bigger land.
As we live more toward the Sandgate end of Deagon we get all of the amenities and the beach for a lot less money.
Great for
- Excellent neighbours
- Good land, lots of trees and wildlife
- Close to Sandgate villiage
Not great for
- A few houses in need of renovation
